Does anyone else think our lads have looked a bit jaded in the first 2 matches? Are some members of the team already struggling with fatigue? Not so much against Stoke, but in the second half at Villa Park, i thought an alarming number of our players looked tired. True we had dominated in the first half, and without converting a number of attacking moves, this could hinder any teams momentum. But i felt Lucas looked tired for large portions of the match. he mistimed challenges and got caught in possession in key areas of the field. Coutinho seemed to slow down markedly and sturridge, while it is widely publicised he is not "100%", was looking a lot less than even 50% for long periods. Perhaps I am being too harsh? but i caught the commentators on Saturday paying Liverpool excuses, stating we were up against a young energetic side. Hang on, weren't we the youthful, exuberant team in the prem?! Thoughts? P.S. the title isn't meant to be offensive, its just how i say fatigue in a French accent!
probably was signs of that to be fair, not sure if that is just match sharpness or what it was, but i will only start to worry about that if it impacts what we get out of games, only thing i did not understand is why we waited until think it was 85 min to bring Sterling on when a few could have gone off as looked a bit ****ed and should have been replaced sooner. think fattygay could catch on lol, can we use it at Anfield i wonder
no but they are only so fit. it was noticable that gerrard and lucas faded a bit but more than anything some players retreated into their shells and let villa do it to us and those players let the likes of gerrard cover their slack (johnson for one) also sturridge is only back after missing the real preseason so he should not be even playing 90mins like that.... no options on bench.
Warrior will probably use it as an ad campaign. I agree this is a concern. But hopefully will will get a couple of players in to ease the burden and Luis Alberto, Borini, Sterling and Kelly can hit form.
Listening to Rodgers, that was our game plan. It was Villa's 3rd game, compared to our second, so it would be very alarming if we were fading before them. If anything, it would be more mental fattygay, after a while of Villa battering our openings...Fnnaaarrrff!!
Villa's game plan was definately to let us pass it around all first half and then pile it on in the second. But it back fired on then when Sturridge scored.
Like all teams I've seen so far we are just lacking match sharpness. It's a fine line but after a few more games all teams start to flow more. I bloody hope it's not fattygay in August though the lazy ****ers
Sorry but that's a complete load of bollocks! The major difference between the Villa of most of last season and the one that played yesterday is that they have gone on the counter-attack and then kept the pressure ON. The first half was a true masterclass of Liverpool domination via ball control. It LOOKED so easy because it was done so well but the players were all working hard to make it happen. You can equate the effort to a swan on the water - looks effortless but you can't see what happening under the water.
No, I thought that there were some other candidates around 1st Prize - 40,000,001 O/D tickets to the Wille Wonker Experience
Nice analogy Foredeck. Is there a covert wum in there or did you write that before it all kicked off? We did look like we tired a bit, our movement was so free flowing and fluid in the first half that anything less in the second would appear lacklustre, we also had to go defensive and Villa started applying more pressure and closing down better when we had the ball which impinged on our style and apparent work rate.
