He feels he'd be more use back in Egypt playing for Al Ahly now that their season has started again. Not quite sure what he has to do to get a game, he's clearly shown he's good enough, but it must be demoralizing to be kept out of the team by Alex Bruce (who's actually been playing out of position). This is a worry, because Fathi has 90 odd caps and is considered a footballing hero in his home country; I can't imagine we brought him over here to simply warm the bench. If he isn't match fit by now then he should just retire. http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-18462000-detail/story.html?#axzz2NyvKR4GS
I think this is a joke. he looks ****ing ace. Has a lovely shot and lots and lots of composure. Why bring him on emergency loan if we don't use him? that's a contradiction in itself.
He's not on emergency loan, he's on a half season loan. The paperwork was done, the players just weren't physically here in time to feature before they did. It is bizarre that he's not featuring more though.
Altidore looked "****ing ace" on YouTube too and was ****ing ****. How city have kept hold of fathi when, despite the fact we've only seen him playing for about half an hour, he's now seemingly better than messi and Ronaldo combined is astonishing. Just imagine what an amazing player he'll be if he stays on the bench until the end of the season (!) Get a grip ffs
We signed Fathi because,at the time we thought we were'nt going to get Elmo back from Sunderland. He would be the perfect replacement for the right wing back role.
It was the Al Ahly/Egyptian fans that were saying he was the best of the three of them. If we sold Fryatt, McLean and Simpson to the same side and Fryatt was sat on the bench whilst the others played we'd be thinking something was odd about it, and so would they if they'd listened to what we said about the players.
Bruce must think it is too much of a risk to play him otherwise he'd be starting, and he has never shown in our league that he is good enough and it must be the same in training. With only 8 odd games left do we want to be throwing in players who have no experience bar a couple of games for Sheff Utd into the deep end- Gedo is a different type of player it might take Fahti half a dozen games to get up to speed if at all
it does seem strange that he didn't even make the bench last time out, Either SB dosn't think he is as good as he thought or there is some other reason we don't know about. The Egyptians seem to rave about him but i did notice the HDM reserves match report in which he played that a number of times he tried to give a long pass but give the ball away-if anyone went to that game then please let us know what they thought of him. Its a really strange one because you would think if he is a decent player then he would link up with Elmo and Gedo well, and to keep Elmo out of the national side in my view must mean he is a pretty good player
Quinny and Brady link up really well on the left but Elmo seems to be left to his own devices on the right...Fahti behind Elmo in a 4-5-1/4-4-1-1 would be brilliant away from home (instead of a sitting centre half) now that we leak goals for fun. Gedo Boyd Quinn Koren Meyler Elmo Brady Hobbs Chester Fahti Stockers
In the position were in now, unless we mess up seriously I can't see Bruce changing the squad in a dramatic way.
If fryatt was left on the bench, I'd think the manager was a genius. Fryatt is another player who seems to get better the longer he doesn't play
Yeah the top scorer in the Championship for the calendar year after he joined us, and our top scorer for each of the last 2 seasons being left on the bench so the back up strikers could play would be genius.
I don't think Bruce had a great deal of involvement in the signings of Gedo or Fathi. He played Gedo because he didn't have much option, maybe he doesn't feel the same about Fathi. The fact that the Egyptian lads think he's the best of the three would suggest to me that we should have seen more of him by now. Maybe now Bruce doesn't have to shove junior in midfield for away games, Fathi will get a look in. After playing two internationals, he should at least be match fit.
He's half decent but can't head it and misses every one on one he gets. Piss poor control and has no pace. Other than that he's cracking
Fryatt did a job, no question, but he was comfortably top scorer because the rest of the forwards were ****e. I hope he comes back and proves me wrong, but he won't unless he's learnt to control the ball, developed some pace and and worked on putting the ball in the net when one on one rather than just passing to the keeper.
Two questions come to mind: 1) That doesn't explain him outscoring every other striker in the Championship over a 12 month period. 2) If the rest of our forwards were ****e, why when I said benching him in order to play them did you decide to say it would be a genius decision?
