I think the FPTP system is the best, and fairest way to vote. Each constituency gets the elected member they want. With PR you would end up with huge constituencies with MP's not familiar with the constituency representing it (if you follow that) <laugh> One candidate in May based his whole campaign on cleaning a path <laugh> Thats what I'm looking for in an elected member of parliament

Magic no one is telling you who to vote for, i Voted Labour because i remember getting free milk one week at school, but the next week having to pay for it, also remember wondering if my free school dinner was the last thing I will be eating that day as their was not a lot of money going round and jobs where very hard to get, by the way your vote never counted as it is a first past the post voting system for downing street, and the Tories never got any where near a seat in Scotland, but don't let the fact get in the way <ok>

They still hold a seat which you said they didn't.

As I said, I never grew up during the days of Thatcher so can't make any statements based on that. You obviously did, so it's fair enough that you don't vote tory because of that.

Do you think it's fair that you still won't ever consider voting conservative, even though the reason you won't happened 3 decades ago?

The labour party in Scotland is run by tims whose only thought is to line their own ****ing pockets whilst keeping their cronies sweet. Corrupt bunch of ****s. The Tories these days are a shower of liberal minded tossers and the liberals are a shower of ****s. Bring back national service ;)

No i will never vote the Tories as a year before they left power i moved to Blackridge, a village badly hit during the miners strike and then shutting them down, i could see the effect many years after it happened, then you go to Bathgate the nearest town, and hear everyone talking about thee old BMC and how Maggie thatcher shut it down and virtually destroyed the place single handily, Thats all before I start on the poll tax

Menniet - Thatcher didnt shut BMC - They managed to do that all by themselves. They couldnt compete with other manufacturers, were inefficient, lazy and were run by trades unions who seemed hell bent on stifling production. Much like the rest of the British motor car industry at that time. Loads of my friends fathers worked at Roots in Linwood. The stories they tell are ****ing unbelievable. They used to strike when ordered back to work when found sleeping on the nightshift. Meanwhile the Germans and the Japs were laughing like ****.
