As a referee, can you explain why this wasn't a penalty? https://mtc.cdn.vine.co/r/videos/55...p4?versionId=mPCNS3EwH_awZvvOdJMnK48vwCuzPjIK
As a referee I would award "wasa ari" as the competitor in the yellow stripes did not land his opponent in the white stripes sufficiently on the flat of his back to warrant the score of ippon. Oh, you mean football? Well what can I say? A shaven head does not Pierre Luigi Collina make. BTW he played semi pro football before becoming a referee. Wasn't perfect but better than most. Most all his contemporaries at least. Would be nice to see the incident properly but the vid looks pretty damming. What gets me is the referee does not see this as violent conduct regardless of whether the ball is still in play.
Regardless of what the guy in the white stripes was doing before or which goal area it was it's still SFP or VC.
Here is the incident in full. It's just unexplainable how the ref fails to award the penalty. It would win gold in any judo competition!
Well that's just extraordinary, isn't it? No wonder I have a relatively short fuse when it comes to criticising my senior colleagues. This is nonsense. I still say wasa ari, not ippon!
I'm with you there Fez. He did not land flat on his back, he landed on his side and rolled onto his back.
