No one is born religious. Religion is a disease passed down by the parents and/or society. People are born with only basic life functions and a great capacity to learn. The natural stance would be to not believe in god, you don't plop out believing in jesus.
Much to the dismay of my greater family my kids believe in Santa Claus, but have been informed that there almost certainly is no God.
If it was a sensible thing to believe in we would be taught about it as adults, like everything else that requires a mature mind - such as an understanding of physics, politics or philosophy. But no, people like you indoctrinate children when they are young because the logic would never survive the questioning of an unadulterated mature mind - you were indoctrinated to believe in something mental as a child so you pass it on to children who haven't got the mental capabilities to question it.

Intersesting take. I was in my early 20's when I was baptised and had my confirmation a few years later. I have children and despite the teachings of the church I never had them baptised as I beleive they can decide for themselves when they are old enough to make such a choice just as I did.
A very 'religious' response if I may say there mick as the good lord says a child is born in a 'natural state' its the parents who make him a Jew, christian etc By the way My childhood beliefs and current ones couldnt be much different
whats more interesting (IMO anyway and hence the poll) is why people stop believing despite 'indoctrination' and when they do stop believing, albeit based on personal experience, why they suddenly knock ALL beliefs despite knowing jack all about them and become 'atheist' despite knowing jack all about that
Despite the ramblings on here by so many self confessed athiests the reality is there are very few true `athiests` in the world. Even the most ardent one will on occasion curse God which is in itself an acknowledgement of the Lords existance.
That is why the 'Anti-God' argument is so valid IMO. I actually have been involved in debates and do talks with 'athesits' when they dont have google and wikki as a back up like on here, and in my experience I would say the majority have been ex catholic and are in fact 'haters of religion' based on their personal experience and NOT atheist This isnt in anyway a sleight on catholics, its just my experience If I was to split it down into gender and ethnicity then the reults change in some aspects. EG pakistani women who because of culture adopt certain views
Maybe many people do hate their religion because of personal experiences, still doesn't mean there is any proof at all for a big chief in the sky.
maybe so, but the personal experiences make them irrational. to the point that no discussion may be had you are an example yourself, based on our little discussions on chatbox. yet your 'arguments' are mostly not even what christianity says in its true form, which is where i struggle tbh. some people hate god based on beliefs that arent even true anyway, yet they never had/have the gumption to look into it
Ok leaving all the issues I have with various churches aside - even if Religion had a net positive contribution to humanity (which as you know I'm pretty sure it doesn't) there is still absolutely no proof that a god exists.
