Hoping that Bettinelli is the season starter, and that this Fabri doesn't claim the jersey just by being the goalkeeper coaches friend, as it seems he has gone to all Carreira's previous club. Feel sorry if it works out wrong for Bettinelli, because I think he was one of the reasons for our good performances after December. I guess I haven't seen or heard of Fabri so don't know if he is an upgrade on Betts.
I was always very critical of Betts, but his performances after Christmas was 1st class, if he could only improve his distribution,competition with the new keeper should bring out the best in both Now come on lets get in a C/F and Winger & Full back
I don't think it's a case of being the coach's friend, more that Carreira obviously rates him. Apparently he's very comfortable with the ball at his feet, so he's a good fit for our style of play. I've no idea whether he'll start as the number 1, but either way Jokanovic has shown that he's willing to change keepers mid-season. Whoever starts will have to play well to keep the spot, which is how it should be.
I was hoping Betts would get a chance and he may still do, but my gut says you don’t shell out £5 million on a champions league keeper with the experience Fabri has and not give him first bite at the Cherry.
Think he was awarded best keeper in super lig trophy/status for the last two years. In goalkeeping terms he should be near his peak - Bets deserves a chance but no harm in having legitimate competition Button in goal against PL opposition would tense my buttocks beyond the point of comfort.
