Hope it's true about his being stable! Will feel much happier when that is reported on the news! <ok>

I just hope that he recovers to full fitness without any long term health complications.

It was reported he was not breathing for 10 minutes - if this is true, I worry for his brain, I really do.

If that's the case, then those 2 should be hauled over the coals severely.

Hopefully he will be fine. 10 minutes isn't too long and medics were helping him immediately, apparently performing CPR so he would have received some oxygen.

Have to say, I've seen and liked a lot of Chrissy Waddle! In my mind, I can picture him being serious, squinting his eyes, and it gives the appearance of smirking!

I find it hard to believe he would act in such a manner! I hope I'm right!

You have to remember that when a situation is very serious and tense it can be a natural response to smile or laugh against your control.

So Sky News are too early with their reporting, yet again. They have had "Muamba in stable condition" rolling across the bottom of the screen for over an hour now. Bolton have released an official statement saying he is in a critical condition.

Fair play to the BBC for not reporting the "in stable condition" story.

Evening everyone, just really felt the need to post something tonight. Now I'm here, I don't really know what to write.
Just so utterly shocking. Let's all hope and pray that the morning will bring some positive news.

I was listening to five live tonight and heard them talking about emergency first aid. I'd like to think I'd have a bit of an idea, but I've never had any training.
With that in mind, my definite plan for next week is to do something about it.

Nice to see you Exile, and good advice.

I run a company that delivers, among other things, emergency first aid training.

It's ok, I'm not using this as a sales opportunity! I won't be mentioning the name, or putting up a link! It's just an excellent thing to have knowledge of, and I thoroughly recommend it to anybody.

The Red Cross is an admirable choice for the general public. Do it, you'll like yourself for it. <ok>

Being critical and being stable are not mutually exclusive.

As for ESPN coverage, Rebecca Loos was involved.... enough said really.

This has shocked me, hoping he pulls through whatever has hit him poor lad. Not good at all. Thoughts with him, his family and his team. God knows is the same happened to one of our players i'd be worried. Massive respect and sympathy to the Bolton fans tonight.

I didn't see the match but just wondered how quickly was the match stopped, not been able to find a clip that shows the before. Not trying to be ghoulish but you often see matches continue for a good while with a player on the deck and was curious about how quickly it was spotted and dealt with.

Best wishes to him, hope he makes a good recovery as quickly as possible, thoughts go out to him, his family and friends too.

At least the crowd appeared well behaved especially with the rousing chants of his name.

Not meaning to appear insensitive but this kind of thing is a good reason for players NOT to feign injuries rolling around screaming or just hitting the deck and laying there for no good reason.

The play was stopped almost immediately Rich44. I think everyone realized very quickly what was happening. I'm not sure it's been said, but well done to Howard Webb and all the officials. They acted quickly, decisively, and with great good sense.
My thoughts are with Muamba and all his family right now.
As for the ESPN coverage, I watched and wasn't offended by it. I think it was clear that everyone was in shock. I didn't notice Waddle smirking. I agree that there was, perhaps, a moment of insensitivity when they talked about previous players collapsing, but it was something I think that was going through all our minds at the time, and it was obvious that the commentators had been told to pad while the directors decided what they were going to do next. In other words, I don't think it was meant to be insensitive.

23 years of age, 40 mins into a match and suffers a heart attack! I could not believe what I was hearing :( my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. A special word has to go out to a supporter in the stands who fought to get through the stewards to give assistance as he was a cardiologist!
