Seriously though, I think Fabregas will give it at least one more season... unless Barca want to offload him asap.

I feel sorry for the guy. He got his dream move back to his hometown and boyhood club, and it's just not worked out for him.

He's welcome back here anytime though, let bygones be bygones.

i would say take him back, except his best position is a position in which we have enough very good players (cazorla, wilshere, rosicky). i would say he is probably better than all of them, but not good enough to justify a £20m buy or anything like that.
although if we do have a sell-on clause, as i believe we do, then we would get some money back from the purchase.

He's good in a deeper role though too, put him next to a DM (Capoue, Wanyama, Gonalons), and we'd be laughing our way to a trophy or 2. If Giroud can't cut the mustard in a team featuring Fabregas AND Cazorla, then there would be no point keeping him.

    Or we could go back to a formation we used to use, when we had Song, Fabregas and Nasri. It went like this;

    Song
    Fabregas invisible for spacing Nasri

    So it would be

    Gonalons (most likely DM option)
    Fabregas invsible for spacing Cazorla

Overrated. Declined massively. Would take him back but only for £2 million

    I ****ING WISH.

Fabregas is absolutely one of the best midfielders in World Football. (unfortuntaly for him Barca have Xavi and Iniesta ahead of him)

If you follow him on Twitter its clear the guy is still a massive Arsenal fan.

Hypethetically If we signed Jovetic/Fabregas and a quality defender we could potentially challenge next year.

    ------------------Szcezney------------------
    Sagna---Howedes-----Verm/Kos---Monreal
    --------------Arteta-----Wilshere-----------
    ------------------Fabregas------------------
    Walcott-----------Jovetic-----------Carzorla

    With a strong bench:
    Mertesacker
    Podolski/Giroud
    Rosicky
    Gibbs
    Chamberlain/Gervinho
    Diaby/Ramsey

don't know about that formation. we might have played it, but not very often. wenger stuck denilson, diaby or ramsey in alongside song, not nasri.
plus, in the modern game, u need at least 2/3 midfielders to be willing to defend. thats why ramsey plays, because he runs around and stuff. fabregas could play deeper, but he's not as hardworking, whilst i've never seen cazorla defend.

if fabregas came back, it would most likely be at the expense of rosicky, with wilshere being used more often in a deeper role like ramsey is, and cazorla out wide.

Until he reaches around 27/28 and at peak then he will be wanting a move to his dream club again...beware.

It's funny how when Barca were tapping him up, they kept going on about his 'Barca DNA', but his playing style is at times, anything but. After spending so many years in England, Cesc has become very direct in his play and is therefore not suited to that Xavi role and hence he has failed to be his replacement. For Spain, they play him as the false nine, but at Barca they have that little Argentina playing that role.

Fabregas would be a pretty similar/good replacement for Arteta.

Eh? Fabregas has continued to move further up the field as his career has progressed, in terms of his position. He is at point where he now finds himself as the guy leading the line for Spain and at times, for Barca. He does not have defensive a bone in his body, anymore. If by some miracle he comes back here, then he would play behind the main CF.

Yeah, I don't like the way Barca have moved him further and further up the field. While he played for us he was more like "our" Xavi. That Fabregas I'd have back anytime, but I don't know how long it would take him to get back to that mindset.

Even for us, Fabregas was playing attacking mid for his final season.

I think I would go crazy if Fab returned. Let's be honest though, it's unlikely... not impossible, just unlikely. :)

Wenger changed our entire system to give Cesc his new role. In his last two seasons with us, he played as the AM, with the likes of Wilshere,Song,Denilson,Ramsey and Diaby playing in the deeper roles. And from that position he scored plenty of goals.
