He's not a striker, certainly not in the 'Defoe' mould, and for sure he's no SKP.

Inside forward yes, but he needs to improve his ball control, decision making and strike rate.

I hope he does, or we'll have another 'Rodders' on the books. Lots of early promise turns to poxy gashbasket.

That's not a natural goalscorer to me, brother. A natural goalscorer to me will be somebody who always finds himself in the right position and will always score goals (like Defoe)

He took a few to score last time round as well. He's a decent player I think with good feet, he'll be alright.

Doesn't matter. Connor Wickham was a striker played on the left wing for a season and was slated from all angles. IMO Watmire was terrible at the weekend but got supported for everything he tried. That gave him confidence even when playing poorly. Every other player got it in the neck for every mistake second half. Watmore did far less than Borini on Saturday. He tried but ran down more blind alleys than a bunch f victims on a horror film. I have no issue with him trying stuff but he should've been replaced long before the end as it wasn't working for him. I have no issue with him but it just wasn't working. Players have those days at all ages.

On The plus side. One result seems to be going our way. Six pointer next week against Chelsea?

Beat them by 2 or 3 goals and you'll overtake them in the league, possibly plunging them into the relegation zone.

    Stunning.

Aye 3-0 win and we're above them - now when was the last time we needed a 3-0 win to go above the team we were against? <whistle> (sorry - couldn't resist!)

I know - and, to be fair, there was a bigger "gulf" between the clubs at the time (they were title contenders and we were "mid tablers") yet now we're both fighting against relegation... We have more experience than them in that!!

If you'd said to anyone, at the start of the season, "If Sunderland beat Chelsea on December 19th, they will go equal with them on points" you'd have been carted off to the loony bin!!
