FA Women's Cup: Arsenal v Bristol Academy..

Bristol Academy will be out to avenge defeat in the FA Women's Cup final against Arsenal in Doncaster on Sunday, having lost to them two years ago.

Arsenal won the last of their 11 FA Cup titles in 2011 by beating Bristol 2-0.

Women's Super League leaders Bristol are in better form, with champions Arsenal yet to register a league win.

"One thing the players know, unlike in 2011, if we perform, we're going to win the football match," Vixens boss Mark Sampson told BBC Radio Bristol.

"I think in 2011 we went into the game knowing we needed the opponents to have a bad day at the office. We know now, if Arsenal go hell for leather and we go toe to toe, we'll win.

"That gives you real confidence going into the game in that changing room beforehand - the players will know if they can get it right, they will make history."

Bristol go into Sunday's final at Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium, which will be shown live on BBC Two, aiming to win their first FA Cup, having lost to Arsenal in the Continental Cup last weekend.

But Sampson decided to rest several key players for that game, including Spanish striker Natalia whom he described as the "female Michu" when she joined the club at the start of the summer season.

She has gone on to score five goals in seven games this term alongside fellow Spanish striker Laura Del Rio, although Del Rio is a doubt for Sunday with a hamstring problem.

Bristol goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain has admitted the Gunners are favourites, given their pedigree - but it has been a patchy start to the Gunners' season following the arrival of new boss Shelley Kerr.

Arsenal, who are the most successful team in the English women's game, suffered their first league defeat since July 2011 when they were beaten 4-0 by Liverpool at Emirates Stadium on 7 May.

But Arsenal and Scotland midfielder Kim Little, who recently won the inaugural women's Professional Footballers' Association award, said: "Shelley has brought a lot of new things and freshness which is going to be great for the club.

"It was disappointing to lose to Liverpool in our first league game, especially being at the Emirates, but we just need to bounce back.

"We're excited, the FA Cup final is one of the best games to play in and best days to be involved in and hopefully it will be a great day and a win for us."

Little, who has scored in three previous finals including two years ago, added: "It will be a very tough game."

    GET YOUR BRISTOLS OUT!

Hope they win. Would be nice if next season Lansdown can celebrate A Bristol City Promotion, Bristol Academy being the best girls team in England and Bristol Rugby being back in the Premier league

Fingers crossed - Arsenal are favourites, but in a one-off game you never know

Well just turned it on. All about Arsenal (no surprise) and pitch looks awful. Not sure if there is a reason why it is being held in Doncaster as you would imagine somewhere in the midlands would be best

Think the cameraman does too as she has had quite a bit of screen time.

Given the linesmans we have had this season I would welcome her running the line at our ground.

Guess least u didnt point out that Bristol Academy had (Loren) Dykes in their team.

Being serious it was a bit like watching City as they like us couldnt defend crosses, struggled most of the game at the back. Lacked drive in the middle and the strikers got no service and the little they did they did nothing with. But they are top of the league so much be doing something right
