a cup run would be a nice distraction and opportunity for NW to utilise his 25 man squad

Rubbish go for it team spirit builds and there is no excuse to win a game of football ... Every game should be played to win
I hope he doesn't rest players we should get a good run in
We will be fine in the premiership anyway everyone on here seems to think we will be involved in a relegation scrap ... We won't IMO

Bring it on who wouldn't fancy a cup semi final against Chelsea etc

It's the FA cup FFS hate the fact that money rules the game if you fail on the premier league then there is no football

    In it to win it

I hope we give it a go, depending how and how many plyers we get in in december our second string may look like last saturdays line up, if not it'll give the new players an extra game or two to gel

I'm assuming we can play anyone in the cup i.e. not the 25 from the prem squad. Hulse and Ageymang up front?

    Our record is safe!

Despite what my bestest mate on here, says on this,TBGWTDT, ( Oddball, to the rest of you. )
The FA Cup isnt what it was when we were kids.
No longer do you get the FA Cup Mastermind, and the six hour build-up. Teams leaving the hotel, cameras on the coach, etc.
They even play Prem games alongside it now ffs.

I cant remember the last final I watched in its entirety.
As a kid , I could remember all the finals from 74-92, and all the scorers and sequences.
I really don't care for it anymore.
The only competitions that matter in ..Football are

    1. The Champions League
    2. The Premiership
    3. The World Cup

    and in that order...fact!

Well I do remember that glorious morning in April 82 when I learned (2 days after the fact - no internet then) that we qualified for the FA Cup final. Heady days, especially earning the replay so late in extra time. Alas...

Wasn't around for 1967 but I did watch that mess in 1986. Yeah, a run at the FA Cup woud be good, but as most of you have said, PL for another season would be better.

Sad though eh? When I was a kid I'd sit in front of the telly from early morning on FA Cup Final day and not miss a second!!

    999, you are
sadly right, but my dream is that we win something worth winning in my lifetime ( not long to go) and the FA Cup is the best chance ( can't see us picking up the World Cup with OneSize in the squad). I started following R's after 67, the 82 Cup Finals I will never forget - heartbreaking. Also bladderbreaking after 3 hours standing without a piss. I agree it's not the same now, but for a club like us it must be worth a go. At least we have a vague chance - imagine what it must be like following Darlington or Aldershot all your life. Now those fans deserve respect.

IMO a cup run is good, remember some of the ties in the 70's, QF against Leicester when for some reason we played in our away red kit although we were at home, packed LR and we lost!!! A 3rd round tie against Forest on a frozen pitch when the buggers equalised in the last minute and i think it went to 3 or so replays.

The FA screwed up the FA cup when they allowed Man U to play in some tin pot comp in asia instead of defending the trophy all those years ago and they scrapped more than 1 replay, never been the same since, oh and also cup final "its a knockout"

So yes lets have a cup run.
