... and then Shrewsbury at home in the Sixth Round ... well, Gabby Logan does have a feeling about Leeds after all
Tough one Billy Congratulations to Lee I am sure I remember him calling that we would draw Watford away!
I am glad its at home from our point of view. You guys will sell out which should bring a great atmosphere to the game. We will be favourites but hopefully won't bottle it as in 2013 against you guys!
I just get this funny feeling that, if we don't play Wood, and play Duke and Anti, then we'll win, if we do it'll be a draw or a loss for us.
you really hate wood don't you? I've actually always kinda liked Doukara. He has the potential to become a really good goalscorer, just still youngish and a lot to learn, still don't think he's reliable enough. Starting to get turned off by Antenucci, although he is capable of producing match winning moments. In short, we need another striker desperately if we are ever to get promoted from this division.
Josh, with respects, and certainly no malice intended, I don't rate Wood as a striker, he's not prolific enough and doesn't score regularly enough for a 3 mill striker; it doesn't mean I hate him cos of my opinion. Like I told Jock, if he was scoring more regular, then my opinion would be different. I'm not one of these who has a favourite and believe he should play every game cos he is my favourite, we've been down that road with Redders, and it got us no where. I read fans and commentators say we miss Wood, but when he plays he doesn't bring an impact to team, my opinion of course, yet in another breath, many are saying we need a prolific striker; maybe it's me being attack minded, it was always the way I played, I played to win every game. When Duke first arrived he showed a lot of potential, then went off the boil, I won't go into why I thought it happened but, Evans has seen something in Duke and has inspired him to play better, which I believe he is doing, some managers have that gift with certain players. Before Redders, Antenucci played as a wild card, he played his own game even though some were saying he was too greedy (being one of Cellino's signings didn't help either) however, since Evans has arrived, I just get a sneaky feeling someone's told him to pass more often, we saw a goal from one of his passes against Bolton. I personally would prefer a free shooting striker that has 7 or 8 good shots at goal, there's more chances of a goal coming from any one of those shots in one form or another. Remember, Beckford, many said he needed 100 shots to score 1 goal, but many loved him any way. When Becchio and Beckford were playing we had a hell of a lot more cracks at goal than we do now, and they both scored a lot of goals, now it's, we only had 3 or 4 shots at goal, with 2 on target. We ain't going to score multiple goals if we don't have a lot more shots, especially from around the edge of penalty area, we ain't going to create more chances at goal if we don't have players who can pass the ball through the defence for the strikers to run onto. The run from midfield and the through pass for Duke to score by Dallas was beautifull to watch, but we don't do it often enough, cos we ain't got the players who see those opportunities, we got rid of'em all..........
Oh dear, thats me in trouble. Can only comment if Ive seen players in person. I may head back to the porn forums
You have seen the current crop at least two times more than the bloke who seems intent on telling us what he knows about these players. I arnt saying he is wrong. Just pointing out he is either rehashing someone else's opinion or judging players from the tele and as we both know in the wider sense that's impossible. The cameras follow the ball so the off the ball contribution is lost.
Evening LL. I'm very confused by this post. You don't rate Wood because he is not prolific enough for you but you do like Antenucci, who also isn't prolific but shoots more even though most of his shots are not on target. You say you don't have favourites but your whole post is a description of why you favour Antenucci (possibly because he's a Cellino signing?)
LL, why this continual assault on Wood? He's not a target man, has never claimed to be, but he's played as one by the manager. Why not attack the manager? Wood is simply doing his bidding. And doing it rather well. That only became stunningly obvious when he wasn't playing! He's won over a lot of sceptical fans who've witnessed his contribution. Perhaps you should go watch him, rather than abuse him with second hand views.
