Apparently Arsenal and Hull were drawn together in the rehearsal and then again in the real thing.

As for Burnley away, this is winnable at the first time and I wonder if Sean Dyche will be a manager who fields a weaker side in the Cup in an attempt to help secure their PL status.

We might be doing the same by January :(

I think it's an awful draw, even if they field a weakened side they like to clog and try and hit on the counter(often they don't even bother with that). At least we've avoided another trip to the Etihad or Stamford Bridge for now and maybe I'm just being a bit negative, Burnley don't have anything to gain from a replay either.

Sunderland V Leeds that'll be a bit tasty.

Talking of repeat Finals, ours is a repeat of the 1962 final and Wimbledon v Liverpool is another.

Leeds v sunderland, wimbledon v liverpool, arsenal v hull, burnley v spurs are all previous finals...seems a lot to me...is this unusual for a 3rd round draw?

Would've fancied a lower league club as I enjoy the atmosphere of facing "smaller sides". Burnley away will be interesting though, I'm sure they'll want revenge for the Capital One Cup a few years back.

So the two clubs have agreed to make this a Monday night fixture. Another inconsiderate kick in the guts for us fans. And it's not being televised either. Not impressed with this.

It's a ridiculous and insulting decision.
The Greater Mancherster police can't do it on the Sunday, for some reason. That's fine. I'm sure the London police can. Switch it.

If it were Pool or United the tv would be falling over each other to screen it

Talking of TV, I see the new deal will include PL games being played on Friday nights. What's the odds of the TV companies sending a southern club like us, up to Newcastle or Sunderland on a Friday night ?

I guess we'd better hope we're in the Europa League again next season :D

Do you know if it's increasing the number of televised games? Because if it's still going to be 4/5 a weekend and BT are given the Friday slot then we might see some derbies that should never be scheduled for an evening game shoe-horned into that spot.

I am guessing the Friday night slot will be taken up primarily by CL clubs playing on the following tuesday

Sunday January 4 was ruled out by Greater Manchester Police, due to 'an issue with police and stewarding resources on this date'.
Burnley's quite near Manchester, Lidls... <whistle>

25-30 miles away but Lancashire Police is the relevant force.

GMP are the biggest force after the Met are used to policing big games, although they charge an arm and a leg for doing so.

Lancashire police have a much smaller pool of officers. Burnley is the smallest town with a league club- population of 70,000. Policing Burnley games is a big deal for them because 30% of the locals are turning up - which is a huge percentage. They are bound to be less flexible.

You may well be right Lidls, but the media are reporting that it's due to the GMP. Are there other local games or something else significant?
