http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/93160 Why the hell would that happen. The only reason i ever watch channel 5 is because i like US cop shows, like NCIS. Any program channel 5 actually make is rubbish. You know they would make a complete mess of it. It would be worse than ITV.
Ive gone off channel 5 ever since they axed the erotic thrillers. They had a niche there and should of stuck to it! Oh dear god F1 on 5! presented by malinda messanger with commentry team Jonathan Pearce & Colin Murray
Oh great. Bernie talking about suing the BBC is probably a good sign to be honest, it shows he really wants it to stay there, I think channel 5 was mentioned purely as an alternative. Am I wrong in thinking that ITV and 5 have a no-competition agreement? So by saying that 5 are a potential host, does that not imply that ITV have absolutely no interest in having it back? Or is Bernie tempting 5 with it, so that ITV can't have it back if they want it?
hmm, it could actually work if 5 were smart about the way they advertised on it, and tiff, plato and VBH as co-hosts. with MB & DC would be a winner.
I wouldn't mind that to be honest, just think how many re runs of races we could watch a week before the race!
Is 5 a standard channel in the UK, in Ireland its not, but i have it through free to air satellite, so would F1 be available to all if it moved to channel 5 ?.
Wouldn't surprise me if James Allen and/or Tony Jardine with Jim Rosenthal presenting it considering that he already does Five's Europa League coverage.
I think Channel 5 probably has more potential than ITV, and is infinitely preferable to any 'pay-per-view' idea, which would do irreparable damage to F1. As I see it, the problem with ITV is that they would do a poor man's version of the BBC's thoroughly excellent job - which is not far from what they seem to do with almost everything else… Channel 5 might have the potential to present things in a fresh and exciting light, and might better appreciate the serious problem with advertising during the event; something ITV were completely disrespectful to, leaving me with a permanent prejudice against their presenters; particularly "…And we'll be right back in a few minutes time"; the pseudo-professional: Steve Ryder.
Well considering ITV dont want/cant afford it, if the Beeb don't go for it then it has to be channel 5.
If the 'F1 show' goes elsewhere, I would fully expect Martin Brundle to continue to lead the commentary. But let's hope the BBC find a way around this before it becomes lost in commercial breaks again.
Ted Kravitz is very much the unsung hero of the team. He goes about his business in a thoroughly professional manner and is an extremely likeable bloke, who really knows his stuff but has not the slightest hint of arrogance. Who else could have tolerated Legard's dismissive, patronizing, public address: "Ted, what word?"; "Ted, what can you tell us"; "Ted, what have you got for us?" "Ted, you're a pleb and I'm important" etc. … Ted is an absolutely TOP BLOKE ! ( - Most would have blown a fuse at Legard eventually ).
