I sincerely hope that Alex Neil's team selection last night was based on resting key players ahead of a must win away trip at Villa Park. Why else would he bring in Mulumbu or leave Jarvis on the pitch for all of 70 minutes while Redmond warmed the bench. And where was Brady? I don't think any of us thought we would get anything against Tottenham they are a very good side but surely we should have matched them on endeavour. Our two full backs were woeful not helped in any way by their respective wide midfield players. I heard some guy say on Canary Call that Howson is one of our best players but not when played out wide. I'm sorry, for me, although he definitely has the ability to be such he hides for most of the game rarely shows for the ball or moves into space. He makes my brain hurt - Howson equals waste of space. We only have three players, Hoolahan, Redmond and Brady, who have the ability to turn a game and we have to hope that they all do the business against Villa or else we will be playing them again next season.
Apparently there was an illness bug going around within the team, I'm sure that's why some players were missing.
Brady and Dorrans were two who were mentioned as having been struck down by a sickness bug that has hit Colney. Bah!
Me and several others at Carrow Road also had the sh**s when we heard Swansea were winning with 5 mins to go!!!
With players unwell and other still not "match fit" selection for Villa game is crucial. Assuming all are available here's my selection.(I think Tettey is suspended) Ruddy Martin Bennett Klose Olsson O'Neil Tettey or Mulumbu Brady Redmond Naismith Jerome
OK, he was a complete tw@t at Stoke, but does anyone else think we've missed Gary O'Neil big time while he serves his ban? Dorrans and Howson v Liverpoo didn't work, Tettey and Mulumbu last night was equally poor (when it should have been far better, as those are their specialist positions! ), so I think we were crying out for someone to a) get their foot on the ball and b) pick a decent, probing pass. Having said that, he'll probably come back in and have a complete 'mare against Villa on Saturday
Pretty much the starting 11 I would like to see and let's hope whoever is selected plays with the passion and belief we showed at Wembley (seems a dim and distant memory now!!!)
I might be completely alone, but I thought Mulumbu looked better than he has for a while last night. Can't believe Neil would drop Mbokani unless he needs to be rested - he's just about been our only shining light in January. So my team would be: Ruddy Martin Bennett Klose Olsson Redmond O'Neil Mulumbu Brady Naismith Mbokani
Why instead of? Why not as well as? It would be adventurous, I know, to play Mmmbop, Naismith and Bamford but it is a game we have to win - even a draw will not be of much help.
This is what I would go for against Villa: Rudd Pinto Bennett Klose Olsson Odidja Mulumbu Howson Brady Naismith Mbokani Subs: Ruddy Martin Dorrans O'neil Hoolahan Bamford Redmond Its getting far harder to pick the bench for games, i.e. who deserves to be on it and who can't you leave out. I think Bassong needs a rest and Jerome misses out as he never seems to offer a lot for me when he comes off the bench.
I'd go for Keelan Culverhouse Bowen Bruce Mackay Foggo Peters Paddon Huckerby MacDougall Holt Subs: Woods, Watson, Suggett, Crook, Goss, Fleck, Roberts
I was looking for a weak link there and there just isn't one! Oh what a team, champion's league no problem!
