QPR are planning on building a new 40,000 seater stadium at Old Oak... please log in to view this image QPR have launched a consultation process over plans to build a 40,000 seater stadium in Old Oak, west London. The Premier League club will send out 50,000 newsletters to residents and businesses as part of proposals to redevelop brownfield land. Loftus Road in Shepherd's Bush has been QPR's home ground for the vast majority of their history, but the growing demand for a larger attendance has forced owners to search for an alternative venue. Rs chairman Tony Fernandes believes the ambitious new development, named âNew Queens Park', will provide much needed jobs and housing. His statement on the club's official website read: âWe are looking to deliver much more than just a stadium. We want to create a new destination that we propose to call âNew Queens Parkâ. "It will serve as a catalyst for regeneration, creating thousands of new jobs and homes for local people. âIt will be a major transport hub that will connect Old Oak to the rest of London and other major cities across the UK. "Our new 40,000 seat stadium will become a focal point hosting not just football, but other entertainment and community activities for residents and visitors to enjoy. âThis will give us a top quality stadium that will be able to cater for QPR's needs as the club progresses and grows over the years ahead. "We are very excited about being the driving force behind creating one of the best new urban places in the world, and making this our new home.â Plans for the new ground can be viewed at a series of public exhibitions, starting on Monday, September 15. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ext-step-towards-development-of-a-new-stadium If only...
It had occurred to me that - investment in players - results - capacity crowds - stadium expansion plans (again) for KC. I may be wrong, but it could force the City and the Club to make some movement.....
The same thing occurred to me as well. If after the price hike we still fill the bloody thing there isn't much else to do except make it bigger.
You are joking? You think that bitter senile old fool will work with the council? Not unless he's given half the city for free.
Not a chance, AA isn't remotely interested, there will be no movement on the stadium until we have a new owner.
The Allams have invested heavily in the club and look to continue that high spending by the creation of the new training facilities at Bishop Burton. They want to make as much money as they can and if they want the club to progress to the next level then a stadium expansion is essential. We have one of the lowest capacities in the Premier League and you can't allow your rivals to have the upper hand. They are buissness men and can more than likely do deals with people or establishments they don't like. Expect them to re-enter in negotiations at some point in the near future. Because they have and need to. Unless the Melton stadium plans are legit (which are highly unlikely).
I find it highly likely. The ageing fools pettiness and churlishness knows no boundaries. I fully expect him to move the club out of the city purely so he can get one over and stick two fingers up to the council. The sad thing is, the council would probably be glad to see the back of the football club.
The plans were first announced in December last year, today's announcement is just moving things up a gear, as they now have the developers etc in place.
Speaking of expansion and development. Did anyone see the article in Telegraph about Man city and their plans for global domination. Parts of the plans are to be applauded but some of the things represent everything that is wrong with the modern game. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/...C-have-plans-for-global-brand-domination.html
Buying the KC or creating a new stadium is compulsory. They are not going to piss around for the next 10 years developing the club and then miss out on making a **** load of money from a stadium we have outgrown. The Stadium is the next logical progression.
I don't know exactly what has, or hasn't been approved, but they're working with the council and the mayor's office and it's a brownfield site, so I doubt there'll be any issues. http://www.new-queens-park.co.uk/
Interesting. Yeah I can't see an issue with it being approved. It's disappointing because the land around the KC is ripe for similar development.
They won't be here in ten years, I doubt they'll be here next year, that's why they no longer give a **** about the stadium size.
What makes you say that? Why would they plough so much money into the club if they're thinking of bailing?
