Feeling quite sorry for Exeter today although it could add a bit of spice having them in the same league as us next season. I guess there will be many Argyle fans celebrating their relegation today as some of them had celebrated our fall from grace. Looking at it as a football fan and a fan of the westcountry (hence the name) I do feel for them and I know the feelings they wll be going through right now. Is this the start of their decline and the beginning of our ascent I wonder. Regardless of my feelings of sympathy for them we really can't have them doing better than us can we!
When was the last time all 3 Devon teams were in the same league..good luck Torquay but you never know...
Around about our first promotion of the two in three years I think and if memory serves we took 6 points off both of them that season. Might be a little green tinted there but think that was right. I don't want to see any Devon side go down so I feel for them. They were punching above their weight in league one anyway and I think the finances are not good enough to sustain that for long. The same will apply with Torquay in my opinion which is a pity. The only club out of the three of us who could is Argyle and that is not said with any boast attached. It really is just a fact of the support base even if our's could be better. Neither of those clubs will reach the Championship unless something dramatic happens in terms of owner being richer than the ones they have. If we were going for promotion like Torquay we would have at least double their likely crowd if not treble.
Torquay had about under 4k I believe....seemed a little dismal to me. If they stay down at least it will be a big payday for all of us in those games.
Two successive great weekends There is only one thing better the greens going up but close second is... the scum coming down
At least we have got 6 points in the bag for next season ha - ha. Putting aside my natural bias for a minute, I genuinely want all the Devon teams to thrive, but I thought Exeter were vulnerable to relegation from the start of the season, given the strength and depth of the squad in league 1. Following the departures of Jamie Cureton and Ryan Harley, it was always hard to see where the goals would come from, as it proved to be.
Poor old Exeter. I have no sympathy for them as a lot of them had for us. Never mind them, we must do better than them next year.
It used to be a nailed on 6 points a season for us once upon a time in a land far far away. Mind you so did Torquay pretty much as well. How things change.
There is a saying Sensible .... what doesn't break you makes you stronger .... things will change, we have survived the most darkest hours in our history and now its onwards and upwards
Sounds like you do adverts for that insurance company Gat..............have you ever been fighting on beaches?
Errrm no Sensible but I've built sandcastles does that count ???? ...... I tell you what has been conspicuous by its absence Dickdale's message of congratulations in staying up or have I been asleep and missed it ???
Good morning Gat-Po.......or at this time is it good night....... Peter Ridsdale personally sent me congratulations......and asked me to pass them on to his friends at PAFC........seeing I couldn't find any I kept them to myself. Brendan Guilfoyle didn't bother......he still can't get rid of that nervous twitch at the thought of PAFC.
Well now,......no sooner than you complain Gat-Po ........ Newsnow comment on the Plymouth Evening Herald's article...... saying how pleased your mate Peter Ridsdale is that Argyle have stayed up......also that he knew that Carl Fletcher was the right man for the job. He obviously reads not606.....to keep up with what is happening of course.
I agree with Joe. No sympathy after the insults I received at the their place last season (10/11). I hope we make sure to greet them in the sarcastic jeery way they deserve.
Not sure if you people are interested in this this write up I have seen about Cornwall...http://thetwounfortunates.com/geogr...ll-cornwall-ever-host-a-football-league-club/
bloody hell brb - I'm not reading all of that ! You've obviously got too much time on your hands now that the season is over ( although I think our season was over many weeks ago )
alwaysright - To be honest that is one of the few sites where I do find some of their stuff quite intriguing to read. So although they are lengthy reading material, most other stuff I just quickly browse over. The Cornwall article does not really interest me as such but just thought some on here might be.
Thanks brb....that is an interesting read........just shows that west of Plymouth.......and football life becomes very difficult to succeed in......even if you are ginger Del Boy.
brb........a few days back I started a thread with your name on........have you been away.........or havn't you noticed it........or are you deliberately ignoring it ????
