Ronald has to remember that he has to wake up in the morning and look at himself in a mirror. To be able to do that is worth losing an extra 3 million. #fingerscrossed :)

This is one of many reasons why being within the close season period is so much worse than being out. There's no pre-match press conference for some journo to ask the question and for Ronald to bat it back with a NO.

The media always think that 'no' is Dutch for yes anyway.

I'm glad no one gets the chance to bother RK with another needless piece of speculation. Tiresome indeed.

I don't know. Alot of this speculation is more to do with Koeman being on holiday still I would think, no definitive answer in terms of a yes or a no.

I think 99% of the twisting and turning will be done in the media and on forums. There are so many instances where something rather simple slowly happens in reality, but in the media you think any participants disappeared up their own singularity and re-appeared in several parallel universes before doing the simple thing.

You could be right. I'll try that in Google Translate. ;)

Do find it endlessly strange that managers are generally so far down the list in terms of salaries at their respective clubs. 2.5m a year is a shade under 50k a week...half the team is making more than that, and that's a common tale at a great many PL clubs.

Well I put it to the test and you're absolutely right Fran:

Google Translate is media. Type in the Dutch for No and it translates as No in English. Put Ronald Koeman in front of the No and it turns into Yes.

So we're blown unless he says it to the Saints media first. ;)

Our 2014/15 wage bill (the last year for which figures are available) was fractionally higher than Everton's. Unless something has changed radically since then, their financial position is no stronger than ours.

Swiss Ramble had them well above us in wage bill for '14/'15, but something did change radically: 49.9% of the club was sold to a billionaire who is in the process of buying out a controlling stake.

So now their fans think they're the new Man City. Sounds pretty delusional to me. I refer the right honorable gentleman to my previous assertion, to whit; Everton? Who the **** are Everton?

If it was Arsenal I'd be worried. But it's not, so I'm calling bollocks. Ron won't go to Everton.

Everton have had sod all money for years and years. It's why their supporters have been clamouring for an ownership change since... well, for a very long time, anyway. Majority owner Bill Kenwright just wanted to get the right people in to look after his beloved club. Then, when he couldn't find the ideal people he settled for the best he could get. Now they've got their new owners it doesn't mean to say the money is suddenly going to flood as if from a burst dam.

I'm not saying he will. But as far as potentially consequential financial changes go, it's a pretty substantial one. Kenwright didn't have the ability to fund the club; the financial growth of the PL vastly outstripped his own. Moshiri does, and for better of worse seems to want to throw a lot of money at making Everton better.

It is a shame Ron has been on holiday this week. The South has been like Portugal while the North has been largely grim. I know where I would rather live!

I guess players have a ltd shelf life and an injury can abruptly end their earning. Managers can go on until they're old and crumbly.

Just asked my mate about this. He's not sure where Cross is getting his info, as this is old news as far as he's concerned. Nothing has changed in relation to Koeman since he declined to be considered further last Tuesday, the fact that we were prepared to pay a lot more than Southampton was already made clear.

Just trying to sell newspapers on the back of a sports story I guess. It is the way of the world unfortunately, there's a kernel of truth in the article so they can't be accused of fabrication. Plus it appears to be a little dig at Southampton so that's bonus points.

Everton will get a decent manager [on paper at least, who knows if he'll be the right fit] and Saints will probably keep Koeman for a bit longer if the signals are proved to be true.

Mind you if Saints lose 10 out of their first 13 games I expect they'll be plenty who'll be asking him to go to Everton.

I do like the way last Tuesday is your day that it ended. That maybe the day that you were told Everton had been told "No" yet the rest of the world heard the actual words come out of Koeman's mouth 10 days before that. He was asked if he was going to Everton and he said, "No."
