Well, technically you're still registered homeless if you're living in temporary accommodation, which is far more expensive than any housing benefit paid for settled accommodation. I think local councils have already got pretty robust policies and procedures in place for evicting problem tenants, so I see no good coming from creating a swathe of homeless people and families. And a bigger problem than displacing more problem families already exists. There are already lots of people registered homeless on the council's housing lists, creating more just amplifies the problem. It's a bad idea, as it will just create more of the same reactions and problems that we've seen this week in our cities. For it to be offered as a solution is just dumb.
