So we lost to Chelsea in the cup, there is so much doom and gloom. They were professional in what they did and unlike the last encounter managed to keep their heads. These London derbies often turn into damp squibs and had it not been for sturridges dive we could well be heading for a replay. Let's remember no matter what a bunch of arseholes some of their players are, they have one of the most expensive squads in the league and I'm sure if we were offered almost any of their players we'd jump at the chance. We are still a work in progress Hughes has only been here 2 weeks and still has to put his full stamp on the team, not only is he trying to sort the tactics, training etc but he's probably busting his balls to get some quality players in. All we need to do is keep the faith get behind the team no matter how badly they're playing and build for the future. You can't polish a turd gents but hopefully by midnight Tuesday they'll be less turd and more diamonds ready to be buffed up!
Good post super. I personally would prefer not to refer to some of the current squad in that way but that is probably just me. I strongly agree with the need to reflect sensibly about our situation. I thought there were more positives than negatives from yesterday and I am looking forward to the next couple days.
Agreed. The season starts in earnest now, three games ahead where 6/7 points are quite achievable. Two new defenders, Traore released from his defensive chores, Adel back, and hopefully a new striker.....we had none of that yesterday. Who cares about the Cup? Bring on the Villa!!
Completely calm. The loss is inconsequential to our season. In a weeks time, the team that played yesterday will be our reserve team. If anyone thinks the likes of Hill, Hall, Buz, Smith, Mackie, Hulse and Macheda will play a major part in our relegation fight, then you haven't been in the news lately. What we all watched yesterday is the legacy of NW.
Good post, Superhooper. I was at the match, but in the cold light of day I'm pleased we don't have the distraction of cup games. I'm just sorry it was Chelsea we had to lose to but I'll get over that quickly. I didn't think we were too bad off the ball yesterday, but on it we were woeful. The next three days could make or break our season. Despite the two coming in and the two coming back from ACoN, we all know we need reinforcements in midfield and up front. On strikers, we just ain't gonna do it with Hulse or Macheda or Bothroyd or Smith, DJ is spending most of his time sick or injured, and we can't just rely on HH. So I'm praying for some good news on Monday or Tuesday...failing which, thereafter I'll just be praying...
Spot on Super. Annoyed today because some fans seem to be acting like ‘Spoilt brats’ because we didn’t get 100K home attendance and we couldn’t beat a top side? Where do they come from? Don’t they remember ‘Vauxhall Motors’ or the 9 men at Luton game? Or some of those ‘dark days’ with the buckets? Don’t get me started.
The voice of reason. Totally agree, it was dreadful to watch, especially going forward but we did hold a fairly good defensive shape off the ball. Lets see who we get in, allow MH a bit more time and then panic,Lol.
I was annoyed after the game game but in the cold light of the day I don't feel so bad. Lack of passion shown but maybe they were told to keep a bottle on it , in the circumstances possible. A depleted team while chelski played a strong team, league is where the focus is and points against Villa and I'll be a happy man again. good reminder hooper.
Well probably many of these you mention are going to be part of our relegation fight! Buz was MOM for most of us against Wigan, and Smith scored a contender for goal of the season. Hall was about our best player yesterday and has played well recently. Hill has been solid and is likely to keep his place in the Squad as back up LB if we don't get a good offer for him. Machie seems to be a MH first choice now. Hulse may get in the Squad if we don't get in another striker. Macheda is so young he doesn't have to be named, though hope we don't have to use him much!. How much all these play depends on who MH can get in before Tuesday night, but I think we will see most with some playing time before the season ends.
We'll have a more solid back four with our signings. We definitely need to see more creativity from midfield - otherwise our forwards are unlikely to get enough chances to score. Will Adel be up to the job?? Are you prepared to put it all on Adel at this level? I would like to see another option signed in case Adel isn't up to MH's grade. Front line does feel short on hunger/ability - had hoped to see more of both from DJ, but doesn't seem to be working for him with injuries. So we need to be getting someone in to help out HH. Hope we see some improvement against Villa and Wolves this coming week. We need goals, points, confidence and momentum quickly now!
I must admit to being the eternal optimist. I was probably the last person still defending flav in our darker days. But I did believe that with our new board and their belief and aim to make us a top club, would end up with us having some plastic fans. It seems it's happened quicker than I'd imagined. Tony Fernandes and Amit are a breath of fresh air, not only to us but to football in general. How many directors of other premiership clubs use social media to ask for the opinions of their clubs fans, or in Amit's case asking fans what pub they are meeting in before an away game. Yet today, having lost to a Chelsea side, who's cost could clear some 3rd world countries national debt, when our own team had 2 players at the ACON and around 5 first team members injured, there are some supposed Qpr fans giving Fernandes and Amit complete abuse because we lost! It beggars belief. What planet are these morons from? Maybe we need to write to Pukka pies and say we require a few prawn cocktail pies for our next home match. I know that like myself, most true rangers fans won't have enjoyed losing to Chelsea, not one bit, but are fully aware that we are most definitely on the up. Even if we are relegated, we will still be on the up because our long term goal are realistic and will take time. But we will get there. True fans take the rough with the smooth, some of the younger generation need to feel some real footballing pain so they can truly appreciate just how lucky we are.
Pain??? 45 years of mainly pain, some acute, some mild, interspersed with a handful of glorious moments that make it all worthwhile. Life as an R's fan in a nutshell! Pass the co-codamol...
****in calm down no way those useless bastards cost me two pints. still i suppose i got two the last time we played chelseahehehe
