We just utterly ran out of steam and then brought a heap of half fit players back in all at once and have lost every bit of shape to the side. It's just that simple. Too many injuries, too many games in a row and the same few are still there looking jaded. 100% deserved by the ****e. We had three gilt-edged chances at the end of the second half, all falling to our 'strikers'. the Diaz one was 75%, the Salah one 80%, but the Nunez one 95%. We're totally deluding ourselves - the new manager should keep Diaz (unless Madrid offer funny money) and bin the other two. And Jones, FFS - why you'd play him instead of Elliott **** knows. And Macca at 6 again - but Endo was abysmal too when he came on. Both fullbacks were useless, especially Trent's feeble efforts at defending his back post. I appreciate he's never going to win a one-on-one against DCL, but ffs jump into him. The limpest fullback at defending corners in the Prem. Never seen Konate to insipid either, but credit to DCL who was playing for a contract tonight and deserves to plaudits. Szobbo has lost a yard of pace and three-quarters of his strength. Just nobody, including Virgil, comes out of this with any credit. Ah well, another 30 years for the next title then... Sad, sad end to Jurgen's era.
Both need to go. Salah is half-hearted at best, and whilst Nunez is 100% lion-hearted.... well, he needs to find some outlet for that courage and passion. It doesn't appear to be as a footballer (certainly not a striker who just continually closes his eyes and hits the ball as hard as he can when clean through on goal). I was all for giving him another season, but come on - he's not a forward -certainly not a top international forward.
