    That is true. The neighbours always used to vote for each other but unless they had a good song, nobody else did. Now whole blocks of countries do it, so having the best song will not necessarily win the Song Contest. Clearly the bookies knew that the thrash metal public voters would vote for Italy as they were the favourites with a number that was atypically Italian.
