Odds are a funny thing. Surely common sense tells you the team that won it last year, and the year before should be favourites. Far too many sensible people putting big bucks on Liverpool.
Liverpool have as much chance of winning it as Sevilla and Villareal. All 3 have momentum and confidence. Putting rivalries to one side, if you're one of the sides left, what's the one team you dont want to face right now? Liverpool probably. And that's from someone who rates Villareal and Sevilla very highly. Lets hope sanity prevails and one of those spanish fckers wins it
You're right both Villareal and Sevilla are quite capable of turning us over if we are not on form. We're erratic this season and need to make sure we don't have an off day in the Europy.
Tbh I see you having an off day against Bournemouth moreso than I see you having an off day against Villareal.
I hope that the current confidence will see us have a run of games, Bournemouth are also safe and that could be a factor.
Exactly. You can see the players are well up for the Europa this season. We've been excellent throughout the tournament. Scraped a couple of 1-0's (iirc) but we've always looked good. I think the players will turn up and give everything in the Semi's - unfortunately the team is still lacking that consistency in the PL. Hopefully with a summer behind him and some players coming in we can have a different mentality in the PL next season. But to be fair to Klopp it's not easy taking a new squad on in October, so I'm not surprised about this years PL campaign tbh.
Klopp's a good manager there's no doubt about that. But as much as he's got you punching above your weight in the EL, he's had you under-achieving at times in a relatively piss-poor league tbf. From day 1, when the team has performed well it's been down to Klopp, when they've performed badly it's been down to the players, and the carefully crafted rhetoric of "it's not his players, when he gets them in everything will be better" has been put in place and played on repeat by the fans and media. Lets wait and see who he brings in and what he does with them.
So coming in and taking over a Rodgers team full of lazy batards is easy? We've had a bad PL campaign, but that was always going to be the case with the ****e that Klopp (or anyone) had to take over. I'm hopeful that the team are starting to grasp the concept of football, and we're showing signs of improvement. It can only be a good thing going into the summer. A good clear out is what we need. I don't expect instant success next season but I do expect progression.
I didn't say it was going to be easy, but you've underachieved in league games with players that are still better than many of the opposition sides you've dropped points to. That is a reflection on Klopp. We're not disagreeing about the fact it's his first season, that's understandable but what I question is this constant assumption that if/when he brings in his players, that will be the reason he'll be better in the league. That's why I said let's see...
I know what you're trying to say. But I don't see how he'll get worse by adding his own players and playing how he want's. We've agreed he's a very good manager so I'm sure he knows how to improve the team. In reality can you see us going backwards? Surely everything points towards Liverpool improving. If not then I'm in for another tough not606 year
No he won't be worse, you'll improve. But I think your biggest problem in the league has nearly always been consistency. That's where I think the jury is still out for Klopp. Consistency will be down to him rather than any players he brings in.
