We do! I had to turn the TV off just now. The analysis is just "Spain pass really well", "They're the best team in history", "Are Spain the best team in history?", "beautiful to watch" repeat ad nauseum. Spain were still poor for the vast majority of the Portugal game and beat an Italy team who were down to 10 men for half an hour.
I know your dislike of them Bids but you surely have to applaud them for becoming the first team to win three major tournaments consecutively? I watched their game against Portugal and I agree with you that their brand of football sometimes is a little mundane to watch but with a team that consists of so many brilliant passers of the ball it would be silly not to utilize their skills no? On a related note, who would have guessed at Torres picking up the golden boot?!
I don't really dislike Spain, just the constant fawning over them (in the media, especially) is getting sickening and extremely irritating. If I had a quid for every time "best team in history" was said in the aftermath of last night's game, I'd have a ****load of quids. I thought there would be some relief after their poor performance against Portugal and the fact that Italy were still full of endeavour until Motta had to go off, but of course this was forgotten. I don't begrudge them any of their plaudits or acheivements - they probably are the best team in history. It's just the same deal as Barca; everyone goes on and on and on and on about how brilliant they are, and how they're the best thing since sliced bread. I was almost (almost!) regretting Chelsea knocking them out as everyone was up in arms over it, saying "oh it's such a shame" and "a big defeat for football" when Barca just got found out, pure and simple. Same as Portugal, they found Spain out, didn't let them play but the fact their team isn't steller and the waste of space that is Hugo Almeida meant they couldn't capitalise. Agreed, bit of a shocker that Torres got the Golden boot. But then, I can't think of anyone who deserved it more. So what players caught your eye, people? I thought Rui Patricio looked solid in goal for Portugal, that Jiracek bloke looked handy for the Czechs and Srna was great for the Croats.
