QPR have had bad dark times but i wouldnt ever consider giving up on them, ever.not even an option! My ties with QPR goes back generations, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather so its in my DNA..heres one for you, would you rather see QPR finish in a safe position in the prem or see England win euro 2012?
June the 11th is going to be a fun day to live in Paris. Could be a much worse draw...but sadly, I found myself watching the draw thinking, 'don't get too excited...it's England, you'll only end up disappointed.'
I like the look if Goldeneyes predictions. To be honest I find being an England fan a bit of a hard slog (with the odd game or two every decade or so being the exception (e.g the 5-1 v Germany, the 4-1 v Holland etc)). There's always way too negativity around them, which is always fueled by wildly unrealistic expectations, followed by inevitable disappointment and bitter acrimony. Personally, as long as we beat France and quality from the group I'd be reasonably happy. Anything more than that would be a bonus.
Anythings possible in football Col. We're certainly underdogs but its a tag we do well with. Italy are an ordinary side, not like they were in the past. Croatia are good but not World-beaters either and Spain can be nullified as you boys showed two weeks ago. Very difficult but there's always a chance. As for England I think you'll top the group. Then its hard to know how far you'll go. Could be the Final or could simply be the quarters.
I think we have a very very difficult group. Spain will go into the Champs as favourites and rightly so. They will murder us and most teams they play. Second place is up for grabs between Italy and Croatia. I agree with Swords above that Italy are nowhere near the team they once were but they are a bit like Germany, they know how to win when not playing well. Croatia will be a surprise team and IMO could reach the Semis. Ireland just don't have enough quality at this level (any quality). Trap will make us nice and tight and we prob won't conceade a lot of goals but alas we will struggle to score enough goals to win a match. International football has gone very very sterile in the las ten years. It's like every country has become an Italy. Teams shut up shop and wait for mistakes. Thats why it's so great to watch Spain, as they actually take the game to the opposition. England have enough quality to progress but only if Capello plays enough of your young emerging players. The likes of Ferdinand, Terry, Lampard and even Gerrard have all consistently underachieved at international level. They get paralyzed by fear. I would love to see England progressing but IMO they wont unless Capello takes a chance. If he sticks to the old guard you might not qualify out of your group. Sorry, but thats just my honest opinion. The British Media won't help either by building the country into a frenzy over the next six months. By the time the tournament starts the media will have put England on a pedestal that will only put more pressure on Capello and the team.
Ireland sadly lack a cutting edge, they've done fantastically well to qualify but 0-0s will count for nothing in the tournament and the quality of the opposition is up another notch. Would love to see them get through but highly unlikely. The opener against Croatia is a must-win game, that would give some confidence for the Spain match, it may end up whoever loses to Spain by the smallest margin will go through...
I think England will get through their group regardless of who Capello picks. However, I do agree that they probably won't get much further if he sticks with the old guard. I have a sneaky feeling that he might select some youngsters though and then, we may have a chance of getting a long way. I'd love Ireland to get out of their group, if only for you guys on here and I do think it's possible, but it will obviously be very tough. Blimey, that Germany group was one to avoid though!
Agreed. I think if Capello picks some youngsters they could go quite a long way! Good luck to your boys too.
