Some strange results going around ATM and for once they don't involve England.

Iceland beat Netherlands 2-0 tonight. That's after Poland beat Germany and Slovakia beat Spain

That's not true at all. I can only find (looking quickly) figures going back to 2010 from the Guardian, when the City of Kingston upon Hull UA was listed as having an 89% White British population. This suggests that 11% are of other ethnicities. I'd consider that pretty strong. That's more than 1 in every 10 people that aren't White British, and that was four years ago. Given the rise in immigration (not just from Eastern Europe, but also from Oz, America and Scandanavia), I can only logically deduce that, if anything, that number will have risen, not fallen.

    This is the article: http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2011/may/18/ethnic-population-england-wales

Unless you think that people from Eastern Europe are Black, Asian or Chinese, I think you've just ****ed up your argument completely with that link.

And all this bollocks has absolutely no relevance to the England team.

Well my argument wasn't simply focusing on Eastern Europeans, they're just the ethnic group I seem to encounter most when in Hull City Centre (outside of White British people of course) and Patches argued that there wasn't a strong population. I suppose it's relative to what you'd consider 'strong', but I think anything more than 10% is a decent amount. The point of the link was to show that we don't have a 92% white British population. I'm sure if I can get hold of some more recent data it'd back me up.

And it was relevant to begin with, my point was that other countries seem to take on a lot more footballers who have backgrounds in other countries and they're mostly players that are really good, but the FA seem to want to focus on players that are British born. They wouldn't accept naturalised players.

Having looked into this further, it seems that the rules regarding foreigners getting English nationality are also very difficult to negotiate; they have to have spent five years here before the age of 18 in full time education AND they have to have held a British passport at the time of turning 16. Whereas other countries such as Bulgaria, Romania and Poland only require 3 years of continious citizenship before they become nationalised. So perhaps that is the reason.

You mean apart from Terry Butcher, John Barnes, Owen Hargreaves, Raheem Sterling, Wilfred Zaha etc (There's actually 54 players that have appeared for England, at various levels, that were not born in England)

Yeah, and that 11% (give or take) is made up of Black, Asian, Chinese AND Eastern European. The Eastern European population of Hull is probably around 4%. Hardly 'strong'.

What a poor game to watch. A win is a win but ffs Woy really does need to look long and hard at squad and team selection. Just like San Marino, it is not good enough and shows how lacking Woy is as England manager.

Many championship teams could have won the last 2 games.
