I can only imagine the reaction on here if England had lost. Your country won, you are on course to reach the quarters. Buck all else matters. Looking forward to your match against the Ukraine and the return of Rooney. For what it 's worth i would only start with Carroll if Walcott or/and OXC is playing.

It's a national past-time to knock the England football team mate. Some just like to knock their own country whatever!
I think England did really well to hold France and then come back from behind against Sweden, a country who always raise their game against the English!
This is no where near our strongest possible team, but Roy is doing well with what he's got available in this tournament!!

How much red wine you were drinking before you wrote that brainfart? I dont say that englad played like barca but they did play better football than swedes and totally deserved their win. Ibrahimovitch was the player who stopped every one of their fast counterattacks and started to dribble with the ball as long someone was takin it away from him. He is strong and good with the ball but still highly overrated IMO. Surely he is great in serie a but outside of it he is just a another good footballer but nothing else.

DT never stops drinking red wine, that explains his posts!

I saw someone else write on another forum that its was like a VIlla v WBA cup match and whoever goes through will lose to the 1st decent team they meet.

I agree with this. England are doing well so far.

One thing that I've noticed is every England fan interviewed on TV and Radio has a Southern accent. Maybe its coincidence but I haven't heard one single Northerner this time round. Is there a bit of a North/South divide or is it just in my head?

P.S. Oddball, you should cut COL some slack. You might disagree with him but the mans passion for the game is evident the moment you look at his posts.

I stand that regardless of a normal performance Ibrahimovic is the best player of those on show last night. This was in rely to the fact that Wellbeck is quality by COL ... Wellbeck scored a great goal don't get me wrong but he is not is the league of Ibrahimovic yet at least .. he scores a beautiful goal and all of a sudden he is fantastic ... he is isn't yet IMO and i used Ibrahimovic to compare him to Wellbeck has promise and i hope he makes it but he is well down the list of great players in my book. I agree with you that England could never play like Barca or Spain. I thought at one stage England looked the worse of all the teams in the tournament maybe not the Irish but they won and that's all that matters if you support England ... I don't and I am not knocking them for the sake of it ... their football is very very stale and without the expression required to win in style.

It's not knockout football yet and hen anything can happen and often does in a one off game ... if England get there then anything is possible ... will i change my views on how they play football ... no ... Would I follow them if they had a couple of QPR players playing .. yes

Agree. I'm obviously not English and i can't put my finger on it but there seems to be something very refreshing about England at the moment. I suppose its difficult to dislike Hodgson. England had a dodgy 15 minute spell against Sweeden but other than that, they def were the better team. I think England have started well and may cause a shock or two in this tournament yet.

Your usual tirade of nonsense I see!
So....even if they were still playing the kind of football that offended your flair loving eye, you'd support them if they had a couple of QPR players in the team? What unbelievable, self contradictory crap!!
For the record....I never compared Wellbeck with Ibra-I'm-a-bitch or called him a "great". Wellbeck is a class act, far from the finished article, but is quick, has a good first touch and can score goals. I suspect the fact that he plays for Man Utd means some people will always be against him! If a french player had put in that back-flick you'd have been having orgasms all over your keyboard about it!! Ibra-I'm-a-bitch has a lot of ability but has often gone missing in big games. He's lazy and selfish and he slowed up a lot of Sweden's moves with his over-indulgences!!
Rooney is a far better player than Ibrahimovic!!

Hope you're right mate. England were clearly the better side apart from that dodgy 20mins......unless you were watching through Dave's biased, wonky viewpoint!!

I think COL is a excellent poster and have no problem with him ... we are all on here to be laughed at IMO
Come to think about it I suggest you look at your own behaviour against some of the posters on here at times you are completely out of order

Hands up who has a warning from the mods? <laugh>

That's true NUTS. I think its due to the fact that the media isn't bigging them up this time and saying they're gonna steam roll the whole Tournament like they've done in times past.

COL, is it predominantly Southerners that lend their support to the Team or is it Country-Wide?

Yes but how do we know who's complaining about who? Anybody can PM a Mod. Any Tom Dick or Harry can lodge a report against a poster and they'd be none the wiser.

For all you know, you could have everyone from North to fu*king Jimbo calling for your head yet you're completely oblivious to it.

I totally agree with you col. Rooney is far better player than ibrahimovict who is playing one day as a world top-3 player and another day like agyemang! In Champions league he has played with ajax, juventus, inter, barca and now in milan but he has managed to score only two goals on the knock-out rounds in all these seasons. Surely he is great in italy but serie A is like joke these days anyway.

The yawn was a nod to middle-class sensibilities that would belittle people for flying flags from their cars and pronounce INGERLOND as if it's a crime. It's seriously boring by now. Let people have some harmless fun and a sense of belonging without being so judgmental. It happens every two years if we're lucky. Chav's in their Corsas riding by with the Cross of Saint George flapping off the bonnet? That's the Daily Mail cliche isn't it? For me it's no more trashy or classless than moaning about your tax on an internet football forum. Who doesn't love the internet. Everyone's a millionaire and nobody can say anything to the contrary.

I also love flair and freedom in football, England has precious few players who can do both at the moment. We accept that, cut our cloth accordingly and enjoy the ride as long as it goes on.

Your job? Nobody has a "job" on here bar the mods as far as I know. "Expose"? Why? We're here to talk about football. Why would you feel you have the need to "expose" anybody?

I hope "the formation threaders" as you call them continue. They give an exile a good read on a game.

Win at all costs? It's not a Gallic thing.

You're right of course. It's all bollocks. Long may the laughs continue.

Only just seen it Swords. I think there are just as many England supporters in the North as in the South, although I have no facts to back this up.
Perhaps the economic situation at the moment is stopping a lot of people from poorer Northern areas to travel?
