A win v Sweden and a draw with Ukraine does the job. Ukraine are good going forward but can be got at.
Depends on the Ukraine v France result, if that's drawn it could be goal difference, ie whoever has the best win v Sweden. Might be to our advantage if Ukraine beat France as well...
Aye that's a fact alright. 5 points would almost always see you through but its not for certain. Its good that its unpredictable. On this performance, Ukraine could well upset France with the home crowd at their backs. France don't like those situations in any sport.
Yeah, a Ukraine win would over France would put them through so they may not be quite as up for the last match as they might be. I'm just worried we may end up going out on goal difference or even goals scored due to our negative play...
Agree with Nines' comment earlier (said the same thing during the match): watching England tonight felt a lot like watching Rangers towards the end of the season. Not a bad thing but be nice to see a more proactive game plan and greater confidence and time on the ball - what Lord Haw-Haw calls expression! All in all a fairly good game between two reasonable teams; and a vast improvement on our performances in recent tournaments. Politics aside, credit to Roy I think. As for MotM: Scott Parker for me. Plays with his brain, courage of a lion and rarely gives the ball away. Young impressive in the first half (creates so much space in the final third) and Welbeck in the second (wins ball and creates attacks). Agree with Carragher, playing that tight a formation is difficult to score against BUT leaves too few options for clearances that keep possession.
Also, a Sweden equaliser tonight would put these two joint top on goals scored, another minus for our tactics...
Yep, probably best for Ukraine to win and then stuff the frogs so that they may ease up against us! Never straight forward with England though is it?
What a dozy twonk! The blondy fella shouted "leave it" and he would have buried it but yer man took it his self and blazed over! Game over now. Ukraine top the group.
Oh well, Friday is a must-win game (another cliche for you Queenslander) or it'll be squeaky-bum time! (there's another)...
Anyone know when England last beat Sweden in a competitive game? Always had this idea they are our bogey team... hope I'm wrong but after tonight they're going to have to come at us next game.
40 years or summat. England are better off having a team coming at them rather than having to chase a game themselves.
You're right. They are our bogey team....but these records are there to be broken eventually. I think we'll beat them!!
