I must express my dismay at Downing (cr@p this season), Milner (not played) and Carroll (cr@p). Personally I'd have Adam Johnson, Lennon (or a different creative midfielder) and Holt. I think Holt is worth the risk. What do you think?

Either way they won't be going far. Should have gone to develop as much youth as possible like Germany did last world cup. Plan for 8 years ahead. Very short-sighted of the selectors in my opinion.

    England squad for Euro 2012:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Man City), Rob Green (West Ham), John Ruddy (Norwich)

Defenders: Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Man United), John Terry (Chelsea), Joleon Lescott (Man City), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton)

Midfielders: Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Stewart Downing (Liverpool), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Gareth Barry (Man City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Scott Parker (Tottenham), Ashley Young (Man United), James Milner (Man City)

Forwards: Wayne Rooney (Man United), Danny Welbeck (Man United), Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham)

Standby players: Jack Butland (Birmingham City), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea).

    Don't particularly care about England but here goes, my starting XI would be;

    ---------------Hart---------------
    -------Cahill-----Terry-----------
    Jones-------------------Cole-----
    -------Gerrard--Parker----------
    ----------------------------------
    A. Johnson--Rooney/Wellbeck---Young
    -------------Crouch--------------

Bench; Ruddy, Lescott, Baines, Lampard, Walcott, Wellbeck, Defoe

Bring Walcott and Defoe on to run them ragged with their pace late on (of course you've got to work the opposition hard enough beforehand for that to work. Nearly picked Sturridge instead of Walcott. Think both Sturridge and Adam Johnson (who's in my starting XI) are very, very unlucky not to make that squad.

Not that I give a hell as I am welsh ! But this looks like the same kind of players who Capella picked, if he couldn't get them to play how will Hodgson ?

I would drop Terry for Richards, Barry for Carrick, Downing for Lennon. Gerrard captain.

Not a terrible selection, and we won't win the tournament whoever we pick. As long as we escape the group stages and don't lose to the Irish I'm happy.

No connection with Ireland. <sorry> but it's a foreign country. I'll always root for the home nations if Wales aren't there (which is usual!)

Biggest surprise: Downing. Second biggest: Carroll. Crouch didn't make it? <doh> Even Holt would have made more sense imo. I don't like the guy but his record is better than Carroll's by a mile.

I just bought a laptop worth more than £549 from PC World last week and as a result, I got to sign up for an offer where I get £10 off them for every goal that England score this summer. Thought it would be a bit of fun with a fresh look England team going into a tournament as relative unknowns... How wrong could I be?? I'll be lucky to get a tenner out of PC World now!

Hodgson is sponsored by PC World, every goal they have scored against them he gets a £10 a time from the mugs who went for the offer, he's in line to cop a fortune ;)

Pretty sure that valleyswan just called me a mug! I'm no mug, I got £100 off a £600 laptop plus £10 more for every goal England score, cracking deal! The only mugs are the owners of PC World for offering such a ridiculous offer!

How Downing is in this squad is beyond me. The guy is a liability. Very surprised that Sturridge isn't on the plane instead of Defoe, and Micah Richards isn't there instead of Glen Johnson. It could well be that 4 of England's starting line up for the tournament could be from Liverpool's failing team (Gerrard, Johnson, Downing, Carroll). For the sake of English football, their squad has to fail catastrophically this summer if it's going to get better. If they pull a good tournament out of the bag, they'll be stuck with these average players until the next World Cup at least.

Calm down mate, it was meant as a joke! My experience of pc world is that they sell over priced under powered computers. I was in there today looking for toner for my printer, they were £20 more expensive which was about a third more than the net

Come on Ireland?, nothing to do with you lot being racist is it? You have got to be the biggest hypocrites in football you complain about english fans being patriotic yet label them racist yet time after time you get nothing but racist anti english crap on here, get back down where you don't belong, cause if you're so anti english you don't belong in the n power either.
    Bye bye!!!

Actually it was to do with me being half Irish...you're a sensitive little soul aren't you.

I don't know whether you are patriotic or racist but you certainly are stupid.

    Ciao.
