Just a theory really. He has been rubbish until yesterday. Then he scored and nearly scored again a minute later.Rvw's shot from the save came out to Snodgrass who put it in.Sometimes a striker just needs a drought to end.I wonder if yesterday was the end of Elmander's drought.

To be honest I wouldn't say he has been rubbish. He chases the ball down and put in some good passes. Sure he hasn't been scoring a lot, but then again not many NCFC players have lol.

I also think he always puts in his shift and works hard to make things happen. He was amazing when he came on though and almost turned the game around. I hope he starts with Hooper on Saturday.

Elmander has been much-maligned because of his lack of goals, but I've always felt he is useful. Definitely one who contributes more to the team than pure stats might tell you. If we're going 4-4-2, I certainly think he should play

I misred your line-up there Rob and thought you were advocating 4-4-2-1 - that would work for me and help Elmander into the bargain <laugh>

I always had Elmander down as the next Dean Coney! Only difference so far is the goal he scored was on purpose, and not a lucky bounce off his arse <laugh>

That and the international pedigree he has shown over his long and fairly decorated career

I didn't say he was useless - I inferred that he reminded me of Dean Coney, who was also prolific before his arrival at CR.

Okay, not in he Alan Shearer mould maybe, but he did hit 1 in 4 with Fulham. Didn't quite live up to that with QPR (about 1 in 7) , and was just awful with us (1 in 17)! Here endeth his career <laugh>

I must confess, of the top of my head, I thought his return at QPR was much better than that!

He can't have been as bad as you guys are making out, I mean afterleaving Trowse, they even named their new training ground and facilities after him? :emoticon-0112-wonde

let's hope it gives him confidence. hooper is clearly out of confidence as is ricky (didn't hit the shot very well that johan scored from)

we need to be attacking on saturday, no good playing both tettey and johnson when we need to win; I'd go something like (for midfield and attack)

    redmond tettey hoolahan snodgrass
    elmander Hooper/RvW

I'd also like to see josh murphy back in the squad to come on as a substitute, use his pace
