Great to see him in the crowd. He will have seen a dogged and determined team bought on a budget take the fight to a club packed with superstars and trophies and come through victorious. He is putting his own money in, putting his faith in a manager unproven at this level, and still running the club as a business. Mr Short......we thank you! If we happen to bump into you in a pub around 2 March in the capital I'll be happy to get the beers in.
I think him being there for this could be massive for us. He will have been sucked in like everyone else, and if he was losing a bit of interest, well, he might just have the bug back.
The biggest thing Ellis Short would have seen and taken an interest in was 9,000 supporters following the club to this game. He must be thinking.... "if this is what we get for a league cup semi-final, what will we get for being in Europe?" x
You wouldn't be surprised if he opens the war chest to Gus and tells him to get who he needs, and get rid of who he doesn't. Btw.....heard on the commentary that statistically we have the largest travelling support in the UK. Did anyone else hear that?????

I was taking to our lass about this exact thing during the match. Hopefully, Ellis has the bug for Sunderland and is in it more than just a business interest. He really wore his feelings on his sleeve tonight. Win win situation.
Well if he is smart now is the time to buy, as far as I know this means European football next season, so players should be queuing up to come and play for us now. If we ever had the chance to make some good signings now is it. It was great to see his reaction and you can't tell me that was the reaction of a man just in it for the money.
Sorry to say it's only Europe here we come if we beat Citeh. Runners up don't go through. I checked this out last night on the rules section of the League Cup website. If the winner is already in Europe the runners up slot goes to the highest ranked league club that is not already in Europe. For the record....I thin we will beat Citeh on the 2nd!

Think this will reinvigorate Ellis all over again if he was thinking 'what am I doing here' and I hope he invites Niall as part of our official team so he can enjoy the final as well.
