Good point made by Caulkin. It’s another example of Ashley papering over the cracks and trying to keep up the pretence that we have a full house and all is well. biw it could be argued that this is effectively a case of him trying to dress up a club he wants to sell. If so, it can only be positive. I don’t think for a minute that those tickets were given away out of the kindness of his heart. there has to be a reason.
Its a pretty straightforward business decision. It doesnt cost him anything to do it and in return he gets a full ground, extra catering revenue and some goodwill. As an added advantage it pisses off all those who want to see thw ground empty to try and force him out.
An elephant in the room implies people can't see the route cause of the issue. Personally I'd use a different animal to explain the problem at the club. We need more of the sheep to get it through their thick skulls that going to games is the ONLY reason Ashley is still here and that they along with Ashley are to blame for the clubs ongoing problems, the fans who've turned up certainly for the last 5 years or so be it a season ticket holder or the odd game here and there. To me there is no arguing or denying it and certainly no justifiable reason you should go to SJP. If that ground was as empty as is should be Ashley would be long gone by now and he wouldn't be bartering over £10m here and there. The buyers ARE there, Ashley just enjoys your money to much...He wouldn't offer up 100,000 free tickets for nothing. Amanda Staveley - January 2018 (and she's STILL there trying to buy it!) “I’m very much still interested in buying Newcastle – and our bid remains on the table.” “I’m very concerned, I’m very surprised and I’m disappointed about what’s been said this week,” “The suggestion that we were either wasting time or not serious is absurd. It’s hurtful. Hugely hurtful,”
I'm only accepting that as an excuse for the God that is Rafa. Bruce gets judged under different criteria and its entirely his fault.
Hes just trying to get new fans on the gear... its like offering lines at a party when you have gear to sell..
