He is definitely guilty of patriotically putting his country first which is why he is very popular in the UK.

No, he puts himself first. You only have to listen to the way he talks about his party members to know that.

Yes the man actually displays all the signs of a narcissist. Not the sort of person you want to care for your country.

You must be a bit naive to think he is any different from any other politician, they all like to scale the greasy pole. Where he can be singled out is his fantastic success in creating the long promised opportunity to vote on EU membership. I'm sure he will keep the pressure on the government to honour the will of the people. The UK will not now accept any restrictions on its ability to sign free trade deals with other major nations such as US, China and India.

Mind you... Donald Trump fits this too...

I guess that is the mutual admiration society...

Potentially less dangerous than psychopathic disorders,,, good at the times of war e.g Churchill, Putin, and to a lesser degree Blair

You said 'he puts himself first' surprise, surprise, all politicians put themselves first. Your should be used to that in France with most leading politicians having been charged with fraud or embezzlement.

When are you going to start your thread on France?

Of course we still wait for the outcome of UKIP embezzling funds from the EU.

There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss the mounting problems of France. Will you have Marine Le Pen as your President with all the fireworks that will bring or will you have the Thatcherite Fillon. He has promised to implement much needed reform but is there enough intelligence and backbone in the country to achieve this. Alternatively will the country just seize up under union bullying then capitulate as previous governments have done. It is all well and good having Thatcherite policies but you also need the resolves she had in bucket loads.

Probably France will just limp along with high unemployment, low growth, limited investment, and ever mounting national debt. No wonder so many french companies have moved to the UK.

Anyone else find this disturbing? One of the chief architects of Brexit doesn't appear to know the difference between EU and ECHR. I knew he wasn't one of the brightest of the Tory leading lights, but this speaks volumes.

Reading some of the message boards it is clear that many don't know the difference, but you would expect an ex-Minister of the Government to understand.

This is the 'effect of Brexit' thread where the decision to leave the UK should be discussed with the performance of the struggling nations that may, or may not, remain. I know you want to hide the growing failures, particularly in France but I'm afraid all decisions are up for scrutiny. Putting your head deep in the sand will not help cure France's mounting problems but it is well used policy used by successive French governments.

Methinks the Odd Brexiters need to debate with Remainers to feel good about themselves,,
