Nolan...........the bare facts are he was TWO years away from his contract finish and wanted THREE more years !!!! If Fat Sam wants to pay him an EXTRA £750,000 per year good luck.
Barton........still in contract and trying on the extra 3/4 year extension............he needs to be reminded he wasn't sacked when doing Pokey.
Jonas...........he was going to be sub when Ben returned
Enrique.........he's refusing better offer from Toon.

People wanted the club to spend money (AC £35 Mill) but you have to remember some players may not like what you bring in if it means they'll be benched?
If as reported in the Journal we got £4.5 mill for Nolan we've made half a mill on him which to me is good business.
Nolan's transfer screams lack of ambition and money to me, ad more chance of achieving something at NUFC than West Ham IMO.

As you say you want players there to play for the shirt.
I'd try and improve things for Barton and look to make him Club captain to keep some stability in there, Nolan would have done this better but the pounds obviously menat more to him.
Not heard of Jonas wanting to leave, and if Enrique is going to piss about seeing if anyone will make a better offer then let him go.
