Makes his seasonal re-appearance over hurdles at Wetherby on Saturday in the 3m hurdle (against At Fishers Cross by the way) An odd one for a horse who could well end up running in the Gold Cup come March me thinks I assume he's protecting his chase mark and having a cobweb buster on Saturday before he trots up in the Paddy Power Chase in 3 weeks ?? Thoughts please
Wetherby on Saturday sees the 4th anniversary of the Gerraghty boy taking the wrong course aboard My Petra in the Mares race. Still, let’s not dwell on that otherwise my blood pressure will rocket... On official hurdling ratings Dynaste actually emerges with the highest perch (after weight adjustments) for Saturday’s ‘Bet365’ heat, although only 2-3 pounds clear of At Fishers and old boy, Tidal Bay, despite not having jumped a hurdle, in public, since the 2012 World Hurdle. Looks sure, in my opinion, to be a pipe (pardon the pun) opener for bigger targets over the big ‘uns. Interesting to see that Dynaste is favourite for both the ‘Paddy Power’ and the ‘King George VI’ on St Stephen’s Day. He may be undone though by the combination of Mr Henderson and the forum’s favourite Corinthian, Sam Waley-Cohen, in both. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Say no more...
Is it really 4 years since the My Petra incident? Doesn't time just fly by. I think this looks a wise choice by the Pipes to blow the cobwebs away whilst not doing anything to impact the horse's chase mark.
Just been announced that Dynaste won’t now be running at the weekend owing to ‘working flat’ in a gallop yesterday. If the Pipe’s get him back on track they have said it will be the Paddy Power or Betfair next followed by the ‘King George VI’ on St Stephen’s Day.
