KIERON Dyer has suffered a setback in his recovery from a foot injury.

The QPR star has been out since the opening-day defeat to Bolton Wanderers, but is back in full training and was due to step up his rehab with a run-out for the reserves against Spurs this week.

But Dyer limped out of the action in the early stages, and will have a scan today to discover the full extent of the damage.

Boss Neil Warnock said: “He's had a setback this week. It's on the same leg he's had trouble with. That's the reason why he came off in the reserve match.

“He's going for a scan today and we'll know a bit more afterwards.”

Seriously man, give it a rest. Dyer must have brittle bone syndrome or something, he needs to stop bothering and take up tiddly winks. Even then he'd probably snap his fingers.

FFS! Why doesn't he just give up. He spends most of his career on the sick bed. We need to offload.

only on a play as you play so real harm done. he'll be gone at the end of the year and would have hardly cost us a penny.

Feel sorry for him,but we need a fully-fit 25 if we are to stay up, so for the sake of the club let him go in Jan.

Feel sorry for Dyer, he's certainly tried hard enough, for years! I doubt he will make a new 25 without staying fit a few games, which doesn't look too likely. Anyone know when the new 25 has to be given the PL - 1 Feb?

He should have retired years ago but was able to keep picking up £80k a week at West Ham trying to get to a fitness level that was never going to happen. We're still paying him a £10k a week basic I believe.

By my calculations that's 25K a minute we've paid him so far (including 50k for being stretchered off).

QPR boss Neil Warnock rues 'devastating' injury setback for Kieron Dyer

Kieron Dyer won 33 caps for England between 1999 and 2007
Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock has admitted injury-hit Kieron Dyer may not play again this season.

Dyer is set for a foot operation on Monday after limping off in the early stages of a reserve team comeback.

The 32-year-old suffered the original injury just seven minutes into his QPR debut on the opening day of the season.

"This is a devastating blow for Kieron," said Warnock, who now looks set to leave Dyer out of his 25-man Premier League squad in January.

We want to support Kieron in this time, even though it may mean he is not in our 25 for the rest of the season
    Neil Warnock
    QPR manager
"I have never met a more determined pro in my career. He really doesn't deserve this."

Former England international Dyer has been plagued with injury problems throughout his career.

QPR handed a one-year deal to the midfielder, who has managed just 41 appearances for club and country over the last five seasons, in the summer.

He looked close to making a first-team return after four months on the sidelines before the latest setback during the Hoops' second-string game against Tottenham on Tuesday.

But Warnock insists there is no chance the west London club will take up an option to terminate Dyer's contract in January.

He said: "I have absolutely no doubt that he will recover after the operation.

"Having spoke to [QPR owner] Tony Fernandes and the rest of the shareholders we want to support Kieron in this time, even though it may mean he is not in our 25 for the rest of the season.

"And even though he has not featured for us, he has made a vital contribution at the training ground and has been very important to have around the place."

Poor lad, used to be a cracking player. Him and Jenas...just can't get a run of games.

Him with Parker and Ambrose, used to be a good midfield.

It gives me no pleasure to say it, but this is just about the most predictable piece of news since the scoop I read about bears sh*tting in the woods.

Feel sorry for the lad , from NW words i understand he was very determined to become fit, let's not forget we had almost no money to invest in players when FB and BE run the show so we turned to him.

Don't understand the fuss on here with Hogan tbh as he is an excellent league one player , mediocre championship player and imho no PL player at all.
Think NW would have the same thoughts because he turned for Puncheon ahead of Hogan.

Note: i don't dislike Hogan, very good lad
