Dyer could be back for QPR by Christmas after the latest in long line of comebacks

    10th November 2011
Queens Park Rangers midfielder Kieron Dyer has stepped up his comeback from a long-term ankle injury.

The 32-year-old, who has been in a protective boot since August, has been given the all clear to resume running and could be back for the busy festive period.

    Serial sicknote: Dyer

The former England international joined QPR in the summer hoping to make a new start after years of medical problems, but his injury jinx struck again just three minutes into the season.

Dyer moved to Loftus Road from West Ham on a free transfer in July, signing a one-year contract.

He made just 30 appearances in the previous four years due to a litany of injuries.

If I were Warnock, I'd use him as an impact sub for the last three minutes of a game. Only the one game, mind....

We haven't let a single goal in with him on the pitch. Surely he will walk back in to the side ahead of Young.

I hope he manages to overcome his injury problems a bit. He will be a great squad player for you if he can shake of his injuries. I just doubt he ever will have a run of games again.

Seems to me the Guy is due a stretch of luck! Remember reading that he was coming in early to training to warm up his muscles, and Neil was really impressed with his work ethic. But luck he is need of - he won't have long to stay fit (an advantage for him!) and impress enough to keep his place in the 25 beyond January.

OK, he's on his ninth life, but worth giving the guy every chance. He's a class act IF he can stay injury free.

Great. The Santa at my local mall has decided to move on so this is welcome news. My son will be happy. Although his job is to sit there and take photos, running is not really necessary. Good news anyway.
