When i first saw that had been manager i thought what a poor appointment but now i've seen that GT fully endorses the appointment i think its a fantastic decision Because GT knows best doesn't he.
I dont think we really had much choice - but it is wonderful if GT really endorses the appointment rather than says he does as he has to. What is past is past and now is the time to support Dyche
I'm sure he really does. GT has shown in the past decade, with Vialli and during the circus towards the end of the Homer-Ashton era, that he is not afraid to speak out contrary to the club's wishes. He might be human (although I believe otherwise), but what is for sure is that he is nobody's yes man.
Let's be fair, even an omnipotent being couldn't lead England to the World Cup in this day and age. We have the best sports scientists, dieticians, physiopherapists, medical specialists, nutritionists and glorified laundry men in the world. But we haven't quite got to grips with the fact that if you work at a relentless pace for 11 and a bit months a year, every year, travel all the time, and a player's only respite is when he suffers injury or gets himself suspended, the team won't be in good shape going into major international tournaments.
True. But I don't think GT would hesitate to resign if he felt the decisions being taken were irredeemably bad. I'm as anti Dasani as anyone, but even I concede that aggressively paying off the debt ASAP is a viable strategy. I don't think the strategy is necessarily wrong, I just think he has lacked competence in the way he has carried that strategy out, and I'm still nervous about his motives. GT is a pivotal figure in my view. If he resigns, and publicly says that enough is enough, Dasani will have until season tickets next go on sale to get the hell out of the club.
There's enough detail in GT's statement to make me feel that, although it may have been a decision of expediency given the club's present financial situation, it is a happy and fortunate one. We could have done a lot, lot worse! Best of luck Mr Dyche - you may need it.....
