To be honest lads, I don't think it's that big a loss. He's a decent keeper but not irreplaceable, either with what we've already got or getting someone else. I think his decision making in key situations was questionable and his distribution poor. I'm not that sure his performances in many games were the difference between getting us getting a result and not warrant all the plaudits he's getting.
Compared to what we had previously he is excellent. Surprised a big team would come in for him though as he isn't a world beater, we're about the right level for him. It's he better than the keepers for other mid Prem teams? I'd say no.
If he wants to leave to sit on the bench at PSG there is not a we can do. I'd hope we push for more than 10m. Very much replaceable of course and personally I'd like us to chance Woodman, but bring in an experienced keeper as cover. That way if he has a tricky spell you can take him out and give him space to develop.
PSG? I'd be surpirsed. They'd aim higher, and they'd throw more money about. The French league is a crappy one horse race, so it'd be easy for him there....when Ben Fatty can turn his career around there, you know anyone can be a success. Hope he stays, he made a few errors last season, but generally I can't remember us having a better keeper (Pavel was solid but unspectacular, and I also found Given overrated).
