Potentially, by Q3 2012, there may be a role available in my company that I have been recommended for (promotion). However, it would mean me splitting my time between Dublin and Belfast! I have been asked to give it consideration over the festive period and comeback and advise if - if role comes to fruition - I'd be willing to re-locate. Questions for all you Irish lads: How easy it to commute between Dublin and Belfast? Where would be the nicest place to live that was relatively equidistant between both locations (Newry)?
There is a train from Belfast central to Dublin Connolly several times a day (about once an hour I think) - it costs about 25 quid return if you book online in advance, like 37 quid in the station. Newry is lovely, there is also Dundalk which is probably slightly nicer but it is more expensive than the north. I've considered living between Dublin and Belfast a few times myself, I'd probably live up north because it really is much cheaper these days.
You could live in a horse-drawn caravan and travel between the 2 cities in style. This is the done thing over there I believe.
Oh, the train takes 2 hours, you can take the bus which goes via Dublin airport and it takes about 2 hours 45 mins. I'd be on the train myself, hate that bus - took it too many times when the only way back from Malta was via Dublin airport.
You could always put your foot down and insist that they let you stay in the one location and if anyone really needs to see you they should be doing the travelling. You have to be really sure that they want you that much before you say it to them though. Good luck with it anyway!
Newry and Dundalk are both full of bumpkins. They havent got the name Newry nyucks for nothing. Newcastle is a lovely place. 40 mins from Belfast and 1 1/2 hour from Dublin
I'll facebook ye and you can do a Magic! By "do a Magic" I mean, stalk me on facebook - not develop a life threatening brain tumour !
Keep a place in each town and have the company pay for it. Travelling more than 40 minutes each way per day is soul destroying. I spent a year going back and forth to Glenrothes every day and it was a nightmare.
aye he works up at kelvingrove park. I sometimes follow him when he goes for his lunch. he eats in arcaffe. it's awrite. he usually gets the baguette of the day cos he's a bit cheap
I'm sure med dog would take you in for a couple of weeks, until you get sorted out.We Irish are noted for our hospitality
If you do stay in Dundalk or Newry Pud I would steer clear of the local drinking establishments for fear that your delicate little ears be interfered with by those nasty songs you hate
