Looking more like wait and see, in bruces efforts for bolstering his forwards. Guess every journo is plucking names and thinking of a club. But it does seem like the same names are cropping up time and time again. But this article say's no about Ba. STEVE Bruce is pondering a summer move for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle, but the Sunderland boss will definitely not be offering John Mensah a return to the Stadium of Light. Having discussed a number of attacking targets with chairman Niall Quinn, Bruce has assembled a short-list of around half-a-dozen names. He is determined to sign at least two strikers this summer, and is keen for at least one of them to have prior experience of life in the Premier League. West Ham striker Demba Ba does not feature on the shortlist, despite Wednesdayâs claims of an illegal approach for the African, but it is understood a move for Doyle is being seriously considered. The Republic of Ireland international only scored five league goals last season, but his industrious displays played a crucial role in keeping Wolves in the Premier League. Mick McCarthy will be reluctant to lose the 27-year-old, having shelled out £6.5m to sign him from Reading in June 2009, but the Wolves boss is keen to remodel his own squad this summer and could be forced to make sacrifices in order to recruit the players he wants to sign. Bruce is not expected to make a formal move until he has had an opportunity to gauge the likelihood of completing a deal for a number of his other attacking targets. The Black Cats boss has been linked with the likes of DJ Campbell, Craig Bellamy and Peter Crouch in recent days, and continues to harbour an interest in free agent Jay Bothroyd, who will not be re-signing for Cardiff City
Even if we sign Bothroyd, Campbell, Doyle & even Crouchy I still think Bent would score more goals than the four of them next season. Although I think we are trying for the 3rd/4th choice strikers here and will be waiting until August maybe for the big markee striker to partner Asamoah (Hopefully!)
I think Doyle is good news: fast, skilled and industrious. The acid test? If we do land him, I bet anyone a packet of chocolate biscuits Wolves will be mighty miffed
hope this aint true Doyle is average look at his goal scoring record. Demba Ba is 100times the player
I disagree, just look what he was like in the prem for reading. He is a good finisher and would fit very well in our team
Is it me or does anyone else find none of these names anything to get excited about? Crouch maybe a couple of years ago but otherwise none of these strikers. Vaughan doesn't inspire me much either. Shouldn't we be aiming at a bit higher quality? None of the mentioned players are better than what we already have. I know we're low on numbers but I'd rather get about 4 quality players in and use the young'uns than get in about 8 or 9 of the likes mentioned in earlier posts. Try for Anelka, N'Zogbia and one of those Left Back things.
agreed, the likes of Doyle aint going to replace the 20 odd goals Benty scored for us, he is a poor man's Kenwyne Jones I would rather we tried to sign him back than go for the likes of Bothroyd and Doyle for me the likes of Pavyluchenko would be a briliant signing, he is the type of striker that makes things out of nothing might look disinterested for 80minutes but bang out of no-where he produces something special and gets the team a goal. Pavyluchenko, Ba and Kanoute for me
Charley Farley, looks like N'Zogbia is off the radar now. We've missed out on a big one there like. Rarely will we get the chance to have a player of such quality in our squad.

Rarely will we get the chance to have a player of such quality in our squad. *Keane prods the giant* Haven't we been in this scenario before. How many of us were wanting Adam Johnson yet we seemed to faff about too much and in the end City bought him. If we'd have offered about 7 or 8 million we would have a player worth twice that now on our books. We dillied and dallied over Leighton Baines, Stuart Downing and N'Zogbia. All of these could have been signed for half of what they're now worth. Many on 606 have been mentioning these players well before we lost out on them. Poor old Poolie must be tearing his hair out.
but insomnia isn't going anywhere yet, so maybe it's not to late. seen somewhere that the mags offered 5 million which was rejected, as he's worth more than that. (and i'm not a big fan of him) so who's can tell if we have missed out on him, maybe not yet...
Remember her when she was just going to page 3 before the boob jobs, and had dark hair, now look at it..
