Spoke to a mate that works down st marys (don't hold your breath) he said " jack cork talks broken down he would rather go burnley, were in advanced talks with craig makhail-smith (forgive spelling) riise is in contract talks and oxo off to arsenal for 8mill plus add ons... I'm not expecting any of this but he did tell me about n'gussan and forte. Don't hold your breath
Would be surprised if Cork came. All the vibes feel wrong. Our offer was accepted a long time ago, yet no progress made. His girlfriend works near Burnley. He didn't stay previously when offered the chance. Adkins just said we had the only offer accepted but went no further. None of this is definitive I know, but taken together I'm not hopeful. I'm sure we were interested in CMS so that wasn't hard to guess. Don't necessarily put much credence on what employees say (unless they are NC and NA) because in the end it comes down to gossip. What would be wonderful though would be if a good player really wanted to come here! Southampton have never been a fashionable club and we will always have this problem until we are back in the Premier league.
According to the News of the World we are lining up Millwall winger James Henry as a replacement for Oxo...............
Nigel Adkins - Friday, July the 1st - 2011: "If Arsenal wanted to put a bid in I am sure they would put a bid in the right manner to the board and then this football club will decide what they want to go and do with that bid if it is offered." How is Oxo off for £8m if they haven't even opened talks, unless you're suggesting Arsenal opened talks and tied up a deal on Saturday? What a load of tosh.
I'm just going to assume everything is pure speculation and a load of sh*t unless it is on the OS. Having said that, i would love Riise!
On that note one would have to say you are right........ Riise......, I'll be surprised if that happened have got the OS constantly open to scout for news...........
Didn't Nigelo basically confirm the opposite to the Oxo and Riose stories in his press conference? Unless your mate who works down St. Marys is Nicola Cortese, then I think its dountful he knows more about transfers than the manager. Ergo, I think he's talking Bullshit. The only thing he 'said' that therew might be a grain of truth in is that we wont be signing Jack Cork. However, If Burnley haven't had an offer accepted its going to be difficult for him to move there...
Plus IIRC he said he enjoyed playing for us, and would've stayed the season if Watford hadn't wanted to sign him. They were managed by Brendan Rodgers then, who Cork worked with at Chelsea....

The BBC report on Adkins interview demonstrates how the written word can be very different from what was said. BBC reported that he said: for the evolution of the club we need better players than we've got. What he actually said was that we had a good strong team and there would be no point getting new players in unless they were better than we've got.
