Looks like young rory is to be given some g ame time on tour, hes given a write up on the official site.i wonder if theres any part for him to play this year? its got to be make or break for him now
Pembs he was given game time on tour last year and he did nothing. The guy is a nice player but will never be a PL player as long as he has a hole in his ****. I actually thought this was going to be a thread about him being moved on.
Agree that we either use or move on. I wont judge him yet as a potential premiership player as the lad has not had any chance to prove himself and when you think how long now he has been with us i do feel a bit sorry for the lad...shelvey is younger than rory but he was at a club that gave him his shot in the first team and i think it's about time now that we did the same for rory...
Could be one we discard too soon. Let's give him a chance on tour eh? At least he's there unlike some.
Had an Irish , Rodgers connection to get to us but will probably never be given a real chance now that Rodgers is out of the picture .
I'm really sorry for the man (he's 22) but he hasn't made the grade. He scored few goals on tour then ….. nothing. He didn't impress in the reserves / under 21s and did less than impress when he played for the senior team. Add that to the one night in Coventry and we have problem. If he wants to make a career 'playing' football he should be at another club where he can get game time.
My understanding was that he ws quite prolific for the U21's 7 goals in 19 appearances not too shabby
I didn't mean zero goals, I meant he didn't impress. And tbh 7 goals in 19 --21 games isn't the strike rate that gets premier league game time. I really would like this player, all players, to make the grade but he hash't at our level. Unfortunately, he was a big fish in a very small and, like many, hasn't developed. Get a contract and play football but not for Swansea.
Had his first game in the Europa league and was hopeless. I am not doing the boy down, would love him to suceed but dont you think if he was good enough he would have had some game time by now. Foulton is younger been here a quarter of the time and has 2 PL appearences. Says it all.
I appreciate that Bob but have to disagree to say he didnt impress. 1 in 2.7 is pretty much the same as Gomis who we have just spent a fortune on in wages, better than Emnes who is our supposed to be back up striker according to some and outside of the top 6 1 in 3 is about average. I personally think he has done enough to warrant games next season (cup games etc) and on the bench to see how he can perform on the bigger stage. If he was scoring better than 1 in 2 we wouldnt be able to hold on to him anyway!!
In fairness the fact Fulton got game time also had a lot to do with Monk benching the likes of Canas and Poz. I am not saying he didnt do well with the last 2 games of the season but that is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison
Just to be clear (having read back my last few posts re Donnely) I must emphasise Rory is not my lovechild!!! Honest!!
