Former Swansea star Ferrie Bodde is hopeful he will be ready to return to action for pre-season training and is looking for an English club, Sky Sports can reveal.

Bodde has not played since early 2010 due to chronic knee problems, but he has now been given the all clear by his surgeons.

The 30-year-old is hoping he can join an English side for pre-season training with the hope of winning a deal.

Bodde is a free agent after leaving Swansea at the end of the season, after his previous deal came to an end.

"Ferrie has been given the all clear by the surgeon and he is already on a rehab course with his own physio," said his agent Frank Schouten.

Good luck to him. If his knees hold out, which is doubtful. He would be outstanding for any team. Shame it's not us.

Why not us? It would cost us nothing to allow him to train with us and a conditional contract if he was successful.

On the other hand I have to question how fit he really is. It's not that long ago that we released him, so I do wonder if he could have made sufficient progress in that time that would allow him to play again.

I only moot the possibility because he was such an outstanding player for us and I believe that, fully fit, he could do a great job for us even in the PL where he has never played. The rider, of course, is "fully fit".

Just imagine, though, if he was - crunching tackles and 50 yard passes pinged to feet. It's nice to dream but it would cost little to give him a final chance. Me? I'd take the gamble. If it came off, we'd have gained a £5 million pound player in terms of ability......

He's to far gone now to last in the premier league, I think maybe he could be an impact sub at best probably at championship level. The intensity of the premier league will cripple him. I don't think the swans should give him another chance, besides he's gone now I have never heard of a club changing its mind. Come to think of it I haven't seen an official statement to say he's gone ???

There is a reason"why not us" and thats because the guy was nothing but trouble These last few years, the club couldnt wait to Get rid of him, this came from someone at board level so no reason to doubt the info, the recovery of his injuries were being hampared by his lifestyle and lack of commitment to following his rehab.

If he gets a club then great, but the swans couldnt wait to dump him!

I heard he liked a flutter and a shandy or two. That wouldn't help much

Norway as I said up above an impact sub at best, but I doubt anyone will be interested to take the gamble and waste the money, oh maybe the franchisers ? ;)

Why? He's easily the best player a lot of us have ever seen pull on a Swans shirt, so why, if fully fit, would he not be able to hack the level of quality that exists in the PL?

The point though will he ever be fully fit ? Think the swans were in a position to know that. They stuck by him for years and it's come to nowt.

Saying he is a waste of space is disingenuous musty though, his knee went do you really think he did that on purpose ?

But, if we allow him to train with us, we can see just how far he's come. It would cost nothing, and if he survives intense training, there's nothing to say he can't be the player we once saw.

The man is and always will be a Jack legend, not a waste of space.

I agree that he will be a good part of our history. But it will always cost us to keep him, if he wants to progress now it will be part of a different team. The question to ask here is can you see him playing in the premier league now ? I just can't see it, I was hoping against hope that he'd make it and he hasn't
