http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...n’t-need-massive-summer-spending-spree-168240 Arteta here arguing that all of this seasons problems derive from a long injury list. That, missing the likes of Gibbs, Djourou and Santos are the principle reason the Gunners arn't challenging at the top. Now, take a look at the injuries that United have had to contend with all season and then compare that to their league position. Has Wenger deluded the players aswell as the fans now too??
I mean you know missing your best midfielder (Wilshere) wouldn't hurt you ate all and having all your full backs injured will only boost the team right?
This season our injuries hav'nt been soo bad. but missing both fullbacks for soo long certainly contributed to dropped points. I do however think that injuries have played a big part in our lack of trophies over the last few years. We manage our injuries badly and and despite what the Op thinks we get considerably more than our rivals.
Arteta didn't mention Djoure, the article did, Arteta just mentioned the fact that we have been through a lot of injuries this season. And yes, losing ALL OF OUR FULL BACKS did hurt us big time, I don't think it's a coincidence that the dip in form came when they were all out (Wenger still should get some blame as he should've immidietly bought a replacement at the start of January transfer). There have also been moments this season when we literally had up to 8 midfielders out! And I agree with Arteta, we don't need to spend much, but that depends on you're definition, for me, in the grand scheme of things if we spend 40-55 million in the summer, that isn't really a lot these days in modern football, especially for a big club, but it would still be enough money spent depending on whether we got the right players of which I'd say we need 3-4 (Striker, Midfielder, Creative Midfielder)
