Knowing to play between the lines of the 6 yard box is a traditional old school striker talent... for all sturridge used to be good at that wasn't particularly it.
I'd sell Studge before Origi. I doubt we're signing two strikers this summer so it makes sense that Origi stays.
Stylistically, he’s not suited to us. He won’t be anything more than a super sub for us - and that’s still a good option to come off the bench. He has a knack of scoring big goals for us. We still need at least 1 new signing who can slot into the front 3 without much of a difference in quality and doesn’t alter our style. Would keep him unless we get a sizeable offer - maybe £30m plus.
He stays without a doubt but we have to be ruthless and look to get a player that can really push the front 3 for a place.
I thought Origi played a blinder for that goal as so many forwards would have charged Pickford ,so giving away a foul, but he was calm enough to wait and see if Pickford spilled it which he duly did to great merriment.
Origi offered new deal please log in to view this image Champions League hero Divock Origi has played his way into a long-term Anfield future . The Reds icon has confirmed he will sit down and talk with Liverpool , after being offered a new contract.
Don't know whether it's significant or not but just been looking at the LFC shop and they've got a new range of tshirts to pre-order only four in the range one of which is a Divock.
Certainly is. I just wondered if the merch was an indication that he was maybe staying. I think when Coutinho started messing about they left him off the new kit pictures - bearing in mind he was our poster boy.
Saw his goal, he looked a bit angry when he took it nearly punched it's way out the back of the net. He looks to be getting more confident. It is only preseason though
The goal Origi scored against Everton was pure instinct, it was knowing when to time his run to follow up. It was instinct that got both his goals against Barcelona. It was pure instinct that got his goal against Newcastle. Against Newcastle if he didn't time his run following the free-kick, he was off-side.
