    I guess I should have known that there was more to it than than the obvious! Also, not surprised that Hull Corporation Telephones were innovative. An aquaintance worked for SaskTel (our phone company) and he worked on projects with GPO and HCT and figured the former were significantly inferior to the latter. He also loved his visits to Hull.

    Incidentally, our emergency number is 911.

    When I was a kid, my grandma had a shovel made out of an old, enamelled metal sign. You could make out the words Nation Teleph. She and my granddad ran the National Telephone Company switchboard in Cottingham. I dunno how long for.

    Hull City Corporation bought the NTC and it became Hull Corporation Telephones.
