Barmby has played under some of the best managers of recent times in this country, is a model professional who already commands the respect of the players and is a local lad. If things don't work out then we canlook elsewhere, hence why it's only temporary but Nick deserves his chance and shouldn't be written off just yet.
Phil Brown was deemed a failure as a manager before he came to Hull, He'd been No2 to big Sam then went to Derby he said he made big mistakes there and should have learnt from big Sam. He was a success with us. What I am saying is Nicky B will have learnt from Big Nige and all the other big managers he has played for so give him a go. We wasn't going to get promotion this season any way, the Allams aren't prepared for it , they said in the beginning the wanted two seasons at least.
Nicks experiences in his playing career definitely set him up to be a revered well respected manager in the future. He's got to start somewhere and he's inherited a very good squad and opportunity to begin his managerial journey. One thing I beg of all city fans is not to place any expectations on the chap.
How does being a good footballer make you a good manager? We never saw George Best become a good manager, Roy Keane and Bryan Robson have hardly do anything in the managerial stakes. Being a player does not make you the right man to be a manager.
I went to school with Nick. Played in the same school teams, even though he was a year younger he was regularly picked for the year above. Good luck to the bloke, he's still got the drive to suceed what he had back then to become a pro, dedicated and always gives 110%. Proud moment for me seeing a school mate managing my club and for us here at City, a manager FROM Hull managing OUR team, HIS team from HIS home. The more I think about it the better it sounds. Nick Barmby - Hull City AFC MANAGER.
No but he's tasted just about everything bar premier league, champions league and international competition medals. Your experiences are what make you and he's got one hell of a playing CV, which he will be well respected for and looked up to. He's an intelligent chap and understands the game well, coupled with alot of contacts and connections within the game, he's got all the pieces of the puzzle to make a top manager, we just have to hope he can put everything into place fairly quickly. I do think it may be a little early for him to step up to the managerial position due to the fact he has no experience of the day to day running of the first team, other than being part of it, hence my comment about not having any expectations. But of all the players I've watched at city over the years I honestly can't think of anyone who has looked more like having potential of being a great manager (including Joyce), judging by his intelligence, passion and tactical ability on the pitch, than Nick.
I have no doubts Barmby will do fine for you guys. Working under good managers for his career will have taught him a lot. And remember you have a selection of exceptional talent in the form of Chester et al, whom some of you guys said are worth 10 million if Mills was worth 5. If thats the strength of those players then Barmby will easily get you into the playoffs
There's no template for a good manager. I think a lot comes down to how hungry the individual is and I bet one of the main reasons Barmby came back to Hull was because he saw City as his ideal first managerial job. City1904 is right, Barmby's playing experience doesn't guarantee he will be a good manager, but if he is a natural manager that experience will give him a massive advantage. I'm hoping Nick succeeds at City more than any of our previous managers.
Besty and Robbo were always on the sauce. And it is well known Keane is a loony tune (although I didn't say that about him - it's just what I've heard)
FFS give the lad a chance, he might turn out to be the greatest manager Hull City have ever had. At least he is not going to **** off after some rich whores flounting their money about. Hull City is in his blood.
Is that so? Because I'm ****ing starving, all I've eaten all day is 3 sausage rolls and some cream crackers. Does that mean I'll make a good manager?
