This isnt a thread bashing referees because although we have had alot of **** decision against us this season we do have to take alot of the blame for them. We keep allowing ourselves to get into these positions where the referees can give Peno's against us and send our players off. Quite frankly indiscipline is the reason why we arent in the play offs. We have cost ourselves alot of points due to our inability to keep 11 players on the pitch and give away a load of peno's. Neil Danns deserved to go today and can have very little complaints. The Jermaine Beckford red at Brighton was completely nothing and wasnt even a foul never mind a red. So here is some stats Red Cards Darius Vassell V Coventry 0-0 1-0 Kasper Schmeichel V Forest 2-1 2-2 Matt Mills V Birmingham 0-0 0-2 Matt Mills V Hull 0-0 1-2 Steve Howard V Crystal Palace 2-1 2-1 Jermaine Beckford V Brighton 0-0 0-1 Neil Danns V Brighton 0-1 0-1 Paul Konchesky V Coventry 2-0 2-0 Neil Danns v Hull 2-1 2-1 The score in italics shows the score at the time of the red card. So if the score stayed the same when we got the red card we would have 5 more points Penalties Nicky Maynard V Bristol City Missed Lewis McGugan V Forest Scored Marlon King V Birmingham Scored Darius Henderson V Millwall Scored Matty Fryatt V Hull Scored Michael Chopra V Ipswich Saved Peter Whittingham V Cardiff Scored Wes Hoolahan V Norwich Saved Sammy Clingan V Coventry Saved Wade Elliott V Birmingham Scored Grant McCann V Peterborough Saved Andy Keogh V Millwall Scored So thats 12 penalties conceded. 7 Scored, 4 Saved and 1 Missed If the penalties that was scored wasnt given we would have earned an extra 4 points there One thing Nigel needs to do in the summer is sort this out as quite frankly its pathetic. Although quite alot of the decisions we can argue are wrong we are allowing ourselves to get into positions where this can happen. So thats at least 8 points thrown away due to our indiscipline this season
Very interesting and a very good post I do think the amount of flying tackles in positions where it doesn't matter if the tackle isn't made, should be lowered dramatically.
IF............ we hadn't conceded in injury time at blackpool....ive never known a season like it......****e refs, missed opportunities..its a wonder im not bald...
If we didnt concede that goal at Blackpool we would be 2 points off the play offs I didnt make this thread to make excuses and if and buts it was just to show how poor our discipline is and how much its cost us
If we didn't concede that late goal at Blackpool I'd have won 20 ****ing quid off my **** of a Blackpool supporting MD
Put it this way... 7 points from Birmingham, Blackpool and Hull all coming from behind. Not bad going if you ask me.
Penalties, red cards, fouls, corners, injuries, bad refs, indiscipline etc. All clubs can point to other forces at work which have conspired against them. At the end of the season you finnish where you deserve. So long as the club takes responsibility for its own success or failure we will do just fine.
Im not saying its the refs against us or anything. Im saying the problem lies with us. We need to improve our discipline and if we dont it will cost us big time again. When we won League 1 under Nigel we had 1 red card all season, Jack Hobbs got it when he went to clear the ball but kicked their player instead and they got a peno. For the record Mark Bunn saved the peno from Rickie Lambert. But if you look at the top teams they dont get many players sent off or concede many penos. Although West Ham have had alot of red cards
Yeah, they get penalties given. Lambert must have double figures from 12 yards this season for Southampton. Unbelievable.
Substitute lambert for nugent at blackpool and that would of been given, no danger. I have seen at least four soton pens that were very soft, we never get them ...all this "it levels its self out" stuff is a crock...as in life ,things can be just unfair...but you do need to overcome it ...
Fans always look at the games through biased glasses. I know I do. I agree that in a one off cup game you can have bad decsions go against you and then find youselves out of the competiton. The league is very different because of the number of games that you have to play. Southanpton deserve to be top, and Leicester deserve to be 11th as it currently stands. If we look at our own failings first, we can then address them and improve far quicker than if we are continuously look for conspiracy theories.
So thats another peno given away today. Kasper gave it away but redeemed himself by saving it but we have given away miles too many and this is something that needs to be rectified in the summer by Nigel
I think Konchesky was lucky to stay on too. So that could have been another red. I've been worried about our discipline all season to be honest and I think it stems from the issue I raised in a post I made a while a ago, that we don't track back quickly enough when attacking. We get caught out so often it's a joke, and usually result in one of three things - we concede, we have to bring a player down (resulting in a yellow/red), or we get lucky. The latter is probably the least likely outcome. The lack of pace in defence/midfield is something that needs to be addressed.
It´s been a funny old season. A season with so much promise. A season of up´s & alot of downs. A typical season for an LCFC fan
And Konchesky responsible again. He has sort himself out next season, otherwise he'll go the way of Mills - another good player with a discipline problem.
recless player is Konchesky, good at what he does, but does more often than not thinks "i can make this tackle" when theres not a hope in hell of him touching the ball.
