Diouf has been named Captain of Leeds United for the game against Bolton tonight. What's everyone's thoughts on this move by Warnock and should it be for the rest of Diouf's contract and perhaps beyond?
Also, what may the impact of being stripped of the captaincy have on Peltier?

Strange one, I am guessing it means Peltier isn't seen as a regular, can't be good for team moral and how must Peltier feel? Could backfire big time, personally feel it is a wrong move but what do I know...

Maybe Peltier wasn't comfortable with being captain? Warnock did say he hoped it would help Peltier come out of his shell a bit more...maybe that hasn't happened? I think he's just been so impressed with Byram he can't guarantee Peltier a starting spot anymore.

Maybe Warnock is just sticking his fingers up at Jerel/Exodus, Simon and Josh <laugh>

You made me laugh there, Elmo. Seriously though, I have to say that I'm dying to find out why we've had a change, and indeed, why Diouf? It's Pearce I feel sorry for. He seems such captain material on the field. Would love to know why he's not #1 choice.

    Agreed!

I have sent Eddie Gray that question. Let's see if it gets answered.

I must say one has to trust managers with these type of decisions.

I genuinely feel as though this is the reasoning behind warnock's decision. It can't be anything else

In all seriousness though, I agree with Whitejock. Everytime I have seen a leeds game this season, Pearce has been the leader on the pitch and its easy to tell, he is the real leeds united captain whether he's got the armband on or not. A few times I have seen him pull aside players and have a chat with em to calm em down or get them going. Whatever your views on Diouf, people must see he isn't captain material. I think Warnock believes its just a popularity contest because thats basically what has always swayed his decisions on captain previously with taraabt and snodgrass

I may just have had a Eureka! moment. We've all assumed that the captaincy change is permanent. What if it was only for 1 game? Perhaps Warnock cleverly thought that he could honour Diouffy on his return to his old club (that's what he'd tell EHD, but the clever part was that perhaps he thought the added responsibility & pride might just make sure that he wouldn't react against the expected baiting from the crowd).

Just a thought - next match captaincy will tell all.

I've heard a rumour Diouf's lined up to take over as manager when Colin steps down <ok>

I was thinking that it was a 1 game appointment also. Not mentioned on the radio show at all.

Warnock has said Diouf is wealthy and didn't need a big salary. Maybe he's the new owner

He was only captain because we were facing his old club. Source: pelts' twitter. Not sure i like the idea of changing captains for that reason. I mean, imagine the fight for the armband if we played Pompey...

    Billy Bremner captained this club.

    A sad day.

I guess you are too young to have seen the great man play. Billy would have played along side the devil if it meant his Leeds would win.

Don't think the great Leeds players were angels, a great team, but no angels. It was about winning, sometimes with great football, but sometimes by battering teams.

The inference I take from this statement is that no-one has ever measured up to him. And you're probably right. Get over it!

Btw, Bremner was no angel, on the park or off it. Let's not forget that he was banned from ever playing for Scotland again in 1975!

I don't think the 'battering teams' is the issue though when it comes to Diouf
